    Hi
My alerts seem to be behaving rather oddly. This is happening across the board, but I thought a specific example would be useful.

I am "watching" The Mosh Pit // A Haven for Metalheads

It appears in my Watched Threads when I check them. In my "things you get alerts for", literally everything is ticked (I checked).

Yet - of the last 2 posts, I was "alerted" about Nihiline's post, but not about indigo_inferno's?

The same is true of the page before - and begins to show a pattern:
    1. I am never notified when Morrigan posts.
    2. I am notified whenever Torur posts.
    3. I am notified whenever Rhizome posts.

I am not following either Morrigan or Torur, I have not got either of them blocked / on ignore. I am following Rhizome. I thought maybe it was about time in between posts - but Torur posted 3 times in five minutes, and those little alerts popped up just fine.

Yet, when Morrigan "Liked" my status, I was alerted.

It is being what we in the UK would call "squiffy" - and that's an example - it isn't the only thread or the only people.

    Happy Sunday.

    kitty.

    Heh a kitty,

We’ve been having trouble with alerts recently. We’re aware and have been researching how to best fix the problem.

    Thanks!

Thank you so much for the speedy response, as always, and the update. Hope it doesn't hassle you all too much - I'm sure it's a very fiddly process.

I’m not sure about the metal heads thread, but if a thread gets frequent replies you may not always get an alert for it or if you don’t visit the thread frequently it may alert less. This is a Xenforo thing, I’m not sure it’s a “setting” we can adjust on our side, sadly. I’ve had group RPs where we literally had to have a side PM to post “tag” once we posted because it doesn’t always alert if there are frequent posts.

Thank you, Alchemy but, as I said above - it alerted me separately for 3 posts in 5 minutes, but not for one a few hours later - and I visit that thread daily - or at least, every day that I log on site. I think it's just being a scamp! Now that I know there's an issue though, I'll just be more vigilant with my watched threads. Thanks so much!

I think this is more just the software build, not so much the alert issue we’ve had. For some reason the system does just throttle alerts a bit in certain threads, especially if there’s a lot of activity/many posters, so I suspect that is the culprit.

Thank you! That's good to know - I'll let people know in the thread, also. Thanks so much.

Checking your “Watched Threads” is probably the most reliable way to make sure that there haven’t been updates. :)
