When she woke, she found herself on a floor, locked inside of a jail cell of some kind. Caitlin took a moment to try and get her bearings. The last thing she remembered was the fight between her team and all of the other teams against the Earth X versions of Kara, Oliver, and their people. She didn't remember getting knocked out, so it was like part of the fight was missing in her mind. As the young woman was thinking this, there was the sound of a door opening and she looked up and across the room in time to see Oliver walk inside.

He wore jeans and a t-shirt instead of his Green Arrow suit, and though that was strange, the thought passed fleetingly.
The brunette was just glad that he was there to help break her out of this cell. "Oliver, you have no idea how glad I am to see you. Are the others okay? Are they waiting for us at the Waverider? Were you guys able to take out the Earth X versions of you, Kara, and the rest of them?" The questions came flying out of her mouth before she could stop them, and it didn't register at first, that as Oliver made his way to stand before the cell, he made no attempt to open the cell and let her free. It only took a few moments for things to click, and the next question she had been about to ask, died in her throat as she stared at him.

Caitlin had been taught growing up, that the eyes were the window to the soul. And most of the time she found that to be true. That no matter what a person tried to hide in their expression, usually their eyes gave away their true intentions, whether they meant to or not. And as she stared into Oliver's eyes, it became crystal clear that the man who stood before her, wasn't the Oliver Queen from her earth. This wasn't her friend, and with that knowledge in mind, she swallowed for a moment
and then let Killer Frost take over.

Within moments, her eyes turned from the warm brown that Cisco usually called them, to the blue that meant her alter ego was taking over. A scream left her, and she raised her hands and used her icy powers, which flowed from her fingers, to send the Earth-X version of Oliver flying across the room. It was just the two of them as she was sure that he hadn't thought of her as a threat to him. And while he laid on the floor and took a moment to pull himself together, she wrapped her hands around the bars of the cell, and used the ice to try and bend or even shatter the bars, but had no such luck.

When Oliver got to his feet and he approached the cell again, she backed away and waited to see what he was going to do. Her eyes turned a dangerous crystal blue as Killer Frost took over her again. Her echoey voice came out. "You'll regret whatever you're about to do.."

The cell had been specifically designed to hold a variety of meta humans, though Caitlin Snow hadn't demonstrated any need for such treatment until Oliver entered the room. He had been starting to wonder if she truly had the powers his advisers were so confident she had, at least until she threw him across the room with a burst of intense cold. Rather than feel frustrated, he felt nothing but excitement. Oh yes, this one would do perfectly.

As Killer Frost gave up on her attempt to break through the door, a dozen of Oliver's people emerged from around the corner, each holding a tranquilizer rifle. They waited for their leader to give them permission to fire as Oliver climbed to his feet. "Your people have abandoned you, Dr. Snow. The Waverider is gone, and the resistance on this earth has...other problems to consider at the moment. Nobody is coming for you." It was important to make that point now, before he started the ritual he had prepared for her, as he wanted Caitlin to believe that everything that happened next happened of her own free will. The belief that she had no choice but to be his was something that the ritual would generate, assuming it worked. Oliver had studied carefully under this world's Constantine, but had never actually attempted this particular trick before. Still, he was confident in his abilities.

"You are everything I had hoped you would be, Dr. Snow," he said, unable to stop the small smile that played across his features. His regime had suffered some major setbacks in the last week or so, and while it might never go together the way it had before, he was confident he could rebuild it. And like it or not, his current guest was going to help with that process. "I think we're going to get along just fine."

Those last words had barely left his lips before he gave a faint signal to his men, and several of them opened fire. The darts were powerful enough to knock a metahuman out for an hour or two without any sort of risk, and that was all the time Oliver would need. By the time she woke up again, she would be a different person.

Caitlin's eyes opened and she slowly sat up. She took in her surroundings and then noticed that her friend Oliver was there, too. He stood, alone, in front of the cell she was apparently contained in. "Oliver? Can you help me get out of here?" There was no fear or caution in her words, as she considered him a close friend and knew that he'd never do anything to hurt her. Her body ached and she assumed it was from the fight that had gone down earlier. She didn't know the outcome of the fight, but figured it had gone well if her friend had come alone to help free her.

The brunette winced at a pain in her right shoulder, and glanced down to see it was bleeding, but not badly. "And while you're at it, could you also get a first aid kit, too? As soon as you let me out of here, I can take care of this and then tend to anyone else that needs help." After she spoke, the young woman looked up from her injury and met his eyes once more. "Are you okay? You have this look in your eyes. It's like a mix between distrust and excitement. Or at least that's what it looks like to me." Her hair changed from blonde, back to its normal brown.

And her eyes changed from a crystal blue, to their dark brown once more. Her clothes also changed from the blue and white leather, to a tan dress as she stood before him.

The ritual had been complicated, to say the least, but Oliver had prepared all of the materials well ahead of time, so that all he had to do was go forward with the ritual. It had required a little bit of his blood, so now he had a bandage over palm, where he had cut himself with the dagger he had gotten from Constantine. The entire thing had left him feeling somewhat exhausted, but it would be worth it if it worked.

As soon as she opened her eyes, it was clear that it had worked perfectly. There was none of the hatred or disgust that had covered her features when they first met. Now he saw only absolute trust. Oliver waited just a moment before grabbing the first aid kit from the hallway and opening the door to her cell. He even left it open, so that if she decided to run for it, there was nothing stopping her.

"Here, I'll look at your shoulder. Just stay still." He was tempted to use the code word he had conditioned her with, but resisted the urge. The last thing he wanted to do was play that card too quickly. He would find out if it worked soon enough, but based on how well everything else had gone, he was fairly confident in it. He started trying to clean the small wound, then applied a bandage to it. "Better?"

Caitlin nodded and waited as Oliver opened the door to her cell. Once he did that, she remained where she was, nodded again, and let him tend to her shoulder. "Much better, thanks.." She said with a smile, and then reached out and took the first aid kit from him. "So, who needs my help?" The brunette asked as she followed him out
of the room a few minutes later, only to stop once they were out of the room. Flashes of memories slammed through her, and she remained standing where she was
    though her demeanor changed.

"What happened? Why am I still here?" The confusion on her face was genuine, and as she glanced over at Oliver who stood a few feet away from her, she froze. "Where are my friends? Did you trap them here on Earth X, or did they make it back to Earth 1?" The questions poured from her before she could stop them. And she moved back a few steps to put some space between the two of them. "What do you want from me?" She asked softly, not wanting to know, but needing to. Her eyes remained on him and watched his every move, to make sure that he didn't try to attack her.

Sure, they were alone right now, but the young scientist was well aware that all he needed to do was whistle and then they would be surrounded by his men and she was be even more screwed than she currently was. "I don't have anything that you want. Our earths have the same tech, and I'm not good with tech, so it's not like I'd be much help with that, anyway. I don't have or know anything that would make you rich or famous, so why don't you just let me return to my earth and my family and friends?" The young woman had a feeling that it wasn't going to be that easy, but hey, there was no harm in trying and asking.

Maybe she'd be lucky for once in her life and this would be a guy that would find no use for her, and would just send her home. But yet, the look in his eyes said that that wasn't what was going to happen, and it caused a shiver concern and fear to run down her spine. "What are you going to do with me?"

He sighed as the conditioning already seemed to be wearing off. Constantine had warned him that was a possibility, but he had hoped his master of the spell was so absolute that he wouldn't have to worry about it, even on his first try. It seemed this was going to involve a little more work than he had hoped. He snapped his fingers and the guards came back in, once again using sedative darts to render his captive unconscious.

Once she was out, he took her back to the other room and repeated the ritual, this time pouring a little more of his concentration into it. By the time he was finished, he was utterly exhausted, but perhaps that was a sign that now it would work.

Rather than simply trust the spell, he decided to frame their first meeting as something of a rescue. The spell would augment the relief and trust that came from being rescued, so when he delivered her back to her cell, he had his men seat her in a chair in the corner. They tied her wrists behind her back, tied her ankles together, and blindfolded her. Once they were done, they departed the room and locked the door once more.

Oliver waited until the security cameras revealed that she was starting to wake up again and slowly opened the cell door. "Caitlin? Are you okay?" he said softly, letting his voice trigger the conditioning he had twice worked upon her.

Caitlin didn't know what to think when she regained consciousness. It only took her a few moments to realize that she was blindfolded and that her wrists and ankles were bound to the chair that she sat on. Panic started to rise within her, but it slowly calmed when she heard a familiar voice. "Oliver, oh my God. I'm so glad that you're here. I don't know where I am. Help me, please." The brunette said and then she tried to struggle against her bindings, but it was no use since they were tied so impossibly tight.

The injuries she had gotten from the fight earlier, ached like crazy. Especially her right shoulder. She concentrated on it, and was surprised to feel that it was bandaged.
"How come my arm's bandaged? Did you come in while I was unconscious? Why am I even locked up?" There was confusion on her face as she remained seated in the chair and waited for her friend to unbind her. "Are you okay? Those crazy people didn't hurt you, did they?" The concern in her voice for him was real and it was easy for anyone to see.

And the longer they remained in this position with her not knowing how bad her friend or any of the others were injured, only served to worry her. The young woman fell silent a few moments later, and simply waited for her friend to do what he needed to do before he helped her. However, the silence didn't last long, before she resumed talking.
"I really wish that you hadn't let Tommy go with those people. There's no telling what they're going to do to him. He knows the plan upon capture. But I'm still worried."

"And Kara? Why isn't she here with us? I figured that she'd be at your side. And once I got free, I could help the two of you plan what our next move will be. I mean, sure, we rebuild. That's to be expected. But, what next? Are we going to launch a counterattack? Whatever you need me to do, Oliver, I'll do it. Don't hesitate to ask. You're my best friend, and I trust you more than anyone.." The brunette's words trailed off a few moments later, and she rested her head back against the chair and waited impatiently for him to untie her.

She couldn't see it, but he flinched a little as she mentioned his allies. Their loss was still recent, especially Kara. While her feelings for them might not be real, she was still capable of opening fresh wounds. Oliver pushed those feelings aside as he opened the cell door and approached her. "Tommy is gone, Caitlin. So is Kara. The people from the other earth took them from us. It might be a little before we can counterattack, but when we do, we'll have plenty to avenge."

He made his way behind her and took just a moment to free her wrists. Once the rope fell away, he slipped the blindfold from her eyes, though he found the brief moment of helplessness somewhat alluring. Perhaps that was something he would come back to once he was more confident in the long lasting effects of her conditioning.

"I took care of your injury before, but when I got pulled away, the guards must have thought you were from the other world. Everyone is pretty jumpy right now." He waited for her to untie her ankles, then held out a hand to help her up. Part of him was braced for another attack, another failure on the part of her conditioning, but he didn't let his readiness show in his body language.

"You're still hurt though, and we both need rest. Come with me. There are still rebels all over the city, and another attack could come at any time. If they attack during the night, we'll be safer if we are together." That much, at least, was true. His generals thought the rebels had been driven from the city, but there could be more. His intelligence community wasn't what it once was. One of the reasons he had wanted Caitlin Snow loyal to him was for the extra protection in case of another attack.

Caitlin nodded and made short work of getting rid of the ropes around her ankles, once Oliver united her wrists. She got up from the chair and followed him out of the room. "I'm sorry to hear about Kara," The brunette said softly. She nodded when he answered her question about her injury, and then again when he explained that Tommy and Kara were gone. "I'm sorry that we lost them. I'm sorry that you, lost them. I know how much they meant to you with Tommy as your best friend and Kara as the one you loved."

The young woman followed him back to his place. It was strange for them to be alone. "You know, we haven't been alone much before now. It's going to be strange without Kara here as a sort of buffer. But then again, that never stopped you from eyeing me before. We both know that it would have been a mistake to act on it. Because of your feelings for Kara. And because she was alive. Well, one of those things has changed. Have your feelings?" There was no need for her to be afraid of Oliver. She knew that he wouldn't hurt her.

She was his best friend, second only to Tommy. There had always been a spark of attraction between the two of them, but they had never acted on it. Maybe it was because his feelings for Kara were stronger. Or maybe because he was worried about being caught. Whatever it was, they had flirted with each other and circled each other for years. Maybe now it was time to change that. The scientist listened as he talked about the rebels, and then nodded as they made it to his home and went inside a few moments later.

Caitlin stepped into the house and then walked over to the couch without hesitation and took a seat on it. As his second best friend she was familiar with his home, where they had spent a lot of time over the years discussing strategy and him or Kara getting patched up by her when they were hurt. "We need to set aside some time to bury our dead. I know that you and Kara weren't big on being sentimental or things like that. But those that we lost, deserve it. And we all deserve the chance to take a minute and grieve for what we've lost."

After she spoke, she got up and crossed the room, where she took one of his hands into hers and led him to the couch, where they both took a seat this time. "Where are you hurt? And don't bother lying to me, Oliver Jonas Queen. We both know that I don't put up with that kind of shit. There's no need to put on a brave face in front of me. I've seen all kinds of injuries over the years, you know this, because you've somehow managed to obtain a new injury that I've never seen or heard of, every year. Nothing that you show me will surprise me."

A smile came to her lips as she said this. Sure, she was lecturing him as she sometimes did, but it was only because she cared about him and wanted him to be careful. When they were seated on the couch together, the brunette simply waited.

He said nothing when she first apologized for the loss of Kara. The loss was still recent, but Oliver realized that the loss was mostly a political one. What he missed about Kara was her power. After what had happened recently, her power would have been a huge asset to keep things together, but now that wasn't an option. Oliver had to hold things together with what little he had left, which was why securing Caitlin was such a big deal.

When she took his hand, he allowed her to move him over to the couch and sat down beside her. It was interesting that her conditioning had created a series of memories where they had flirted and toyed with the idea of being intimate. He had known the conditioning would give her memories of them being best friends, but hadn't been sure what else it wold do. Perhaps it was a sign that she had something of a crush on the Oliver Queen of her world, an idea that gave Oliver a sense of revulsion. The man was weak, undeserving of her affections.

"I'm going to be okay," he promised her, though part of that was because of her, no doubt. "Kara and I, honestly, we haven't been close in a long time. I was obsessed with keeping things together, and she was obsessed with keeping things orderly. Both of our obsessions were necessary, but they didn't leave much in terms of time for relaxing or being close. In a lot of ways, we were more like partners than we were husband and wife." She seemed to have expected as much, at least in the back of her mind, based on her earlier line of questioning.

"I'm not hurt too bad. Just a little bruised up." He lifted his shirt to prove it, revealing the large bruise at the center of his chest. It was already healing, but it would be a day or two before he was at 100%. Not that it mattered, as he doubted there would be much in the way of fighting in the next day or so. The rebels were occupied elsewhere, and the heroes from the other world were long gone. There was no battle to fight at the moment, just some pieces to pick up.

Caitlin chuckled when Oliver told her that he was going to be okay. "I have no doubt about that. First, because you're strong. And secondly, because I won't have it any other way." She nodded when he talked about his relationship with Kara. "I'm not surprised to hear that, actually. I know you, Oliver. And I could tell that your feelings for her weren't romantic. Though when the two of you needed to put on a show, you were both pretty convincing." She winced at the sight of his bruise, and then shook her head in amusement when he claimed to be only a little bruised up.

"You know, you downplaying your injuries is gonna get you in a hell of a lot of trouble one day." The brunette said, even as she grabbed the medical supplies, lifted his shirt over his head and tossed it aside, before she began to carefully clean and bandage the wound. "Do you think you can keep out of trouble for a few days, to give this some time to get less painful and even heal?"
Even though her words were aimed at him as a question, it was easy to tell by her tone that she expected him to follow her orders.

Once she finished and was satisfied with that his bruise was take care of as much as it could be, she stood up and grabbed his shirt and handed it to him. Then, the brunette picked up the supplies and headed for the bathroom and save them and wash her hands. When she returned to him a few minutes later, she gave him a strained smile. "It's weird being here just the two of us. Do you feel like having company, or should I let myself out so you can brood and be angry about everything that's happened recently?"

Sure, she wanted to stay with him. Wanted to explore their feelings for each other, but she wouldn't push. If she did that, then he would just push back and neither of them would be happy in the end if that happened. When she returned to the room, she paused for a moment and then sat down beside him once more.
