It was 2019 and there were a few university students that were fortunate to slack off in their freshman year by secretly drinking alcohol on campus. Nicolette pretended to be drunk in fact, she was unlike the privileged entourage she was with, especially since her work study job at the library gave her access to it after hours. These women were a potential network connection to their parents who held political positions and she wanted them to like her as she wanted to hold a government position to help people. Part of being socially inclined was important to her after all even if she had to fake a smile. The women were stumbling, holding on to bookcases dropping books over, and drinking out of a bottle of tequila.

Nicolette was not much of a drinker as it caused her nosebleeds since her dorm was extremely dry and she was prone to them. The group of women settled on the back of the library which lead to a green house and a fountain. The water cascaded down into tendrils from a large clamshell and a statue of a woman that was similar to the Greek marble ones at museums with sculpted sheer fabric that clung to her feminine form as if it were real.

“Nico. I dare you to kiss that statue.” Mary quite contrary said, she was a goth girl but more or less one of those ‘scene’ girls who wore dark red lipstick and her hair fringe covering her eyes. If anything Mary and her friends looked like the witches from the Craft film.

“If I wasn’t so drunk I can probably climb up there.” Nicolette lied.

“Lydia, Wednesday, Adele help Nico up the fountain so she may receive a kiss from a rose on the grey. Just like that song.” Mary laughed.

There was no avoiding it now and surely the girls gave Nicolette a boost to stand on the platform at the center of the shell and share the pedestal with the statue. Nicolette wrapped her arms around the life sized statues neck and kissed her cheek.

“No! On the lips and put some tongue on it so it’s looks hot.” Mary demanded.

Nicolette was against it as she would never deface any form of art but she was being pressured. The best way to handle it is to face it head on. So Nicolette decided to perform the act as if she were in a play.

“Oh Venus, no words shall escape your lips as I seal them with a gentle kiss.” Nicolette kissed the statue, her short poetry distracted the girls into forgetting that they wanted a French kiss originally.

“Awe so romantic!” One of the girls clapped, “Bravo!”

What makes one's life worth living? To some it’s their status and admiration that they garner from those around them. To others it more of a material matter, them gathering all manner of things to show their accomplishments. Though to some it’s a rather simple answer. It is simply the memories forged between those special to you that make it all worth living.

How hard of a life would you have to lead if such memories were taken from you? One such person with this malady just so happens to be getting macked on by a supposedly intoxicated young woman. Though this person at the moment isn’t really a person and is actually a statue in the middle of a courtyard. A statue that has stood in the same spot for going on one hundred and sixty years.

While this woman went at it with the statue something rather peculiar started to happen. The statue started to respond and kiss back, the arms moving to grab hold around the waist of the young woman who initiated. When the arms started to move the stone broke away-dissipating into thin air-around the elbow and revealed a fair complexion beneath. The rough feel of stone lips also faded and was replaced by a velvety smoothness of a woman’s lips. The tender hold the statue had with hands placed at the small of Nicolette’s back held her firmly in place for the moment.

As the kiss deepened the grey of the stone fell away and revealed a period dressed woman embracing and deeply kissing Nicolette. Soon after there was a completely apparent woman standing there macking in Nicolette she stopped the tender kiss and looked Nicolette directly in the eye, replying to her earlier poetry, “Words shall escape these lips unless another tryst you wish to persist.”

While she was focusing on Nicolette she had yet to notice that there was a rather intoxicated bunch watching the whole altercation. Though considering how loaded they seemed to be they would most likely not remember anything much.

The stone statuette became living flesh before her dark pearl colored eyes, while her brows raised in response, she still kept her lips pressed against the beauty who wrapped her arms around her. The woman pulled away to speak and that was when reality sunk in, suddenly finding herself frozen in time herself for a minute in order to digest everything that had taken place. Was her drink spiked with something by the girls? No, she clearly remembered feigning drinking out of the bottle that was half emptied by the others, and eating a pillow mint shortly after to disguise her breath from the alcohol she did not consume. Nicolette raised her hand to adjust her glasses, lifting them slightly from the bridge of her nose to make sense on the situation, and proceeded to touch the mysterious woman's jawline.

"Persist, to whom do I have the pleasure of this embrace? I, Nicolette, am but a humble servant to such beauty. Oh venus." If this was mid-summer dream she found herself enjoying it to the fullest.

Mary and her gang had already ventured into the garden maze just beyond the green house moments before the statue turned into a person entirely missing out at the sight.

“Nicolette,” the woman said with a cheeky smile and then continued while she removed her hands from the small of Nicolette’s back, “So this is the name of the one who has removed me from the stone.” Countless times before such a situation had happened, though the people from her past lives are blacked out from her memories. With that in mind she paused for a moment and then took a step back away from the young woman, her lightly curtsying as she replied to the previous question, “Deidrie Valencia, though informally Drea to those close to me.”

As she straightened back up she continued, her trailing off of her introduction, “My fated one has awoken me from my slumber and now I shall devote myself to lady Nicolette’s health and future.” In truth in her previous life she had went through the same kind of situation, this more or less a revolving door type of thing as all humans die eventually. With all of that said she reached out and took Nicolette’s hand, her placing a light kiss to it, “Bonded I shall become.” Where she had kissed the back of Nicolette’s hand a faint glow persisted for a moment before fading away.

“Well miss Valencia, I have many questions, and I am still trying to figure out if meeting you is real.” Nicolette said nervously as everything felt real as humanly possible. Both women shared a large platform on top of the fountain and they were still high up from the ground. It was difficult to get up or down without getting wet and so Nicolette removed her ankle boots and socks to step into the clam shell where the water flowed down into a much bigger vessel which she also stepped into, the water went up to her calves and she was completely soaked. Tossing her shoes on a nearby stone bench she turned around and reached for Deidrei’s hand so she could whisk her out in one fell swoop into dry brick ground.

“I have you know, I work at this library, and I am not sure what sorority you are from but I hope they return the statue that was here. They must know someone in security since the cameras are being serviced tomorrow and everyone with that piece of knowledge decided to mess around campus tonight. Of course that includes me so I can understand the intrigue.”

Nicolette stepped out of the fountain, pulled her black knee high skirt and wrung it between her hands to get as much water out, before sitting down on the bench to put her shoes on shivering a bit from the cold.

“How did they get the statue out? Leverage alone might break it even if they calculated it right. I figured a forklift but there is no room for one between the maze and the green house. I didn’t see a crane when I worked my shift...Ah! Helicopter, clever, the glass roof does open up like a huge window and it’s the only way they could do it in a pinch. I love your dress by the way, you really looked like a statue, but I didn’t understand the make-up effect. Most of the time statue performers paint the clothes permanently. How were you able to do it temporarily? A gust of wind could have ruined it if it was applied so lightly, you did a great job of it.”

Clearly Nicolette was reasoning with what happened between them being a prank from Mary as she was a politician’s daughter who did whatever she wanted.

The first thing that went through Drea’s head when watching this woman go about explaining the events was, ‘What are these words she's using?’ While the word camera was known to her such things were bulky and quite expensive. Only the wealthy and influential could really own such a thing in her time. Regardless the young woman pursed her lips as she listened and cocked it to the side ever so slightly as she replied in confusion, “What perchance is a Heli-cop-ter?”

Drea wasn’t one to put on airs and it was beyond obvious that she wasn’t putting on an act. This was indeed a woman who was mere moments ago a stone statue in the middle of a collegiate location. With a double blink she simply stared at the rationalizing Nicolette, which was a sight to behold indeed. Not really understanding what she was saying in regards to her clothing she reached out and took hold of Nicolette’s hand as they were now off of the pedestal. With one fluid motion she reached into her own bosom and withdrew a pristine 1823 George the IV Double Sovereign gold coin.

“This should cover the damage to your attire and any inconvenience I may have caused,”
she simply stated and then continued, “Though I am unaware of this ages currency.” The coin was one that clearly seemed to be mint condition and would easily be worth about 2 thousand pounds in such a state, perhaps even more if one were to find the right buyer. Blissfully ignorant about this ages currency to her ages currency Drea simply smiled a warm smile to the young woman.

“Haha really funny. Of course if administrators caught wind of a helicopter being on campus you would say you did not know anything of the sort.”

Deidrei did seem confused about everything she was saying but until she spelled out that she truly was a statue just moments before to Nicolette their present conversation made it seem like it was still a prank. Unconvinced, she took the gold coin, and examined it.

“I am not familiar with antiquities but if this is real it can really rack up quite a bid at a coin collector’s auction. So are you still trying to pull a joke on me with this?” She extended her hand out to give the coin back, “No thanks. I had a good laugh so don’t worry about it. I should lock up the library though, it is getting rather late, so follow me out.”

Nicolette turned on her heel and locked the doors to the green house that went into the maze and proceeded to walk the opposite end leading towards the main library. While there she pulled out a coin timeline book and pulled out her cellphone to take a picture of the spine with the catalogue numbers before handing it over to her.

“Take a look through this to date your coin to the most current one before we separated from the reign of the queen. Huge mistake if you ask me, she has the power to dissolve the government if the majority of the people are unhappy with the current state of affairs...and boy is the electoral college boning us hard over our current government. Australia is lucky to have the queens intervention. The United States of America...not so much but I am sure you come from a wealthy family so you are fine with how things are. Give me your student number if you want to check that book out of the library.”

They were at the entrance which was made obvious by a iron gate with glass and two Roman pillars which is where they stopped walking.

Having been given a book to look through she simply double blinked down at it as she looked through the pages. Listening in on what Nicolette was saying only exemplified her previous confusion. Dating the coin wasn’t that difficult as she already knew where to look. With that in mind she sat the book down on the table and then laid out several more coins. The previous George IV 1823 double sovereign, four 1860 Victoria halfpennies, a few Victorian hong kong one cent coins, and even other denominations ranging from 1820 to 1860.

She spoke looking back over at Nicolette, her leaving the book behind as she put the coins back in her rather small dainty palm size purse which fit snugly in between her breasts, “Two thousand pounds or more.” With that said she took up a spot next to Nicolette and took a step out of the library, it being quite obvious that she wanted to close for the night. “A student ID isn’t something I have,” Drea said with a shake of her head which was mainly why she left the book behind.

“I surely am not pulling you along for a jest miss,”
she said sternly and then continued taking up and firm stance in front of Nicolette outside, “You woke me from the stone so I will be your comrade in life.” While she had said all of this she was sure to have a bit of a learning curve in this new 2019 world. Hell she wasn’t even sure how long she had been asleep just yet. Regardless she wasn’t quite sure how she would be able to prove she was indeed telling the truth to Nicolette.

Though as that downtrodden thought caught in her head she had a sudden epiphany. “Perhaps is there some way to look up a painting called Mon Amour Lis Jaune?” This painting if one of her that her lover had painted and gifted to a wealthy Barron at her passing. Though Drea wouldn’t know any of this as she would have been stone as soon as her love had passed. She also knew that there was writing on the back of the painting that was directed to her from her long forgotten love.

    The writing would read:

How fleeting has my life been? Drea I long for more years with you and even more nights in your tender embrace. Soon you’ll no longer be mind and this is something that I simply have to accept. I do hope as my time comes to an end you find someone who holds you as tenderly as I wish to.

There would be more writing after that bit the rest would be rather worn and hard to make out on the back of the painting.

Nicolette closed the doors, locking it with a key from her skirt pocket, and turned over to Deidrie who stood in the learning hall of the library. The hall had chandeliers that were left on, benches along the walls, and other entrances to other rooms which were all locked. While everything this strange woman was saying sounded like something out of a novel and remotely interesting it was starting to get annoying.

“Look, we are done role playing here so you can stop the act. Nothing you are saying to me makes any sense. Are you a foreign exchange student? I can understand that you don’t have your student ID but you can use a laptop and connect to the free WiFi to do your research, just because I work at the library doesn’t mean I am suddenly Wikipedia!”

Clearly times have changed so much that women were allowed to be students, work, and there were so many words that opened up a myriad of questions for someone like her that they were both equally confused about each other.

“Also, just because we kissed passionately under the moonlight or whatever does not mean we are comrades as you put it. People fuck on a first date and call it a one night stand. It’s different in this country, chivalry is dead, and everyone is selfish. You should go back home, okay? Stay safe.”

Nicolette whipped her hair past her shoulder dismissively and started walking away on brick path into a darkly lit tree covered area to her car. It was a black mustang convertible with its top up.

Drea once again was stonewalled by the unwavering young woman before her, it being quite obvious that she wasn’t going to budge whatsoever. In the past, believing that a stone statue could become a real woman wasn’t that hard to believe. Back then the supernatural was something that was somewhat believe in. The brick wall had blocked her path forward and she wasn’t sure how to proceed any further. This revelation was sinking in now, and she was certain what the end result would be if it persisted.

“Oh, well I suppose our parting will be quite soon then miss,”
she said in a matter-of-fact tone, a tinge of sadness in her voice as she did so. The dismissive way she was brushed off more or less told her that she wasn’t wanted in this age, which really only meant one thing. If the one who woke her didn’t want her around the stone was the logical next step. As Nicolette started to walk away towards her car Drea looked down at her hand and wondered when she would go back to the stone.

    “Home,”
she exclaimed in a hushed tone while she stood there. The wish of the one who had awoken her was the priority and if that wish was for her to go back home it would need to be acknowledged. Though in all honesty she didn’t really know where home would be, her home long lost to the annals of time and periodic awakenings. While standing there in deep thought she glanced to the side and caught sight of this Mary girl from earlier, Nicolette long gone to her car at this moment.

Without much thought she approached the young woman and slightly bowed her head, “If I am not mistaken you were with an acquaintance of mine earlier Nicolette.” With that said she paused for a moment and then continued, “I do not wish to disturb her so do you perhaps know somewhere I can lay my head tonight?” Out of place was the best word to describe Drea as she held a conversation with this intoxicated young woman, “My name is Deidrie Valencia miss, what perchance is yours?”

“Where is Nico,” Mary furrowed a brow, “She ditched us didn’t she? That is not a good friend—no matter how drunk, friends stay to the end! Hic—are you practicing for a theater drama speaking that way? That is dedication—you I like. My name is Mary and these are my childhood friends.”

The women she was with could hardly stand but were having a good time laughing and holding on to each other in their inebriated state. Adele whispered in Mary’s ear and chuckled.

“Alright. Here is the deal, if you buy us more alcohol you can crash with us. My parents are out of town this week, you see that old Victorian house across the street? That is my house or at least the one I will inherent if my parents croak. Here is a Benjamin now go quick, the liquor shop closes soon. It’s two blocks that way!”

Mary handed Deidrie a hundred dollar bill and turned towards her house.

The condition of her going and buying some spirits wasn’t really that big of a deal, her having done the drinking thing before in her past lives. Though in most cases it was a formal affair, usually beset with some form of occasion. With all of that in mind she took the currency and watched as the lot of them made their way to the aforementioned home. Considering she was given the direction of the shop she simply made her way there, though the currency of the age wasn’t something she really knew all that much about.

The banter with the clerk was a bit one sided, her simply asking what would be best to purchase for the occasion. The clerk suggesting a bottle of mid shelf vodka and a bottle of rum for those that want something a bit sweeter with some fruit mixes. The next hurdle would have been the ID check but the clerk didn’t care about doing that as he was going to be leaving the job in a few days anyway. She lucked out in that sense as an ID check was par for the course when buying spirits these days.

Eventually she started to make her way back to the home, her carrying the Vodka and Rum in a brown paper back. With a light rap on the door she waited for it to open, her wondering what the night would entail with these rather drunk individuals.

Adele answered the door with a squintiest look on her swollen face then looked at the bag with more alcohol with a chuckle, snatching it she proceeded to close the door at Deidrie but the heavy wooden door only closed half way. The rest of her friends were in a den laughing at pictures of cats doing strange things on a tablet. The girls started on the rum bottle, passing it along as they giggled at the pictures on a screen, and their guest had to figure out where to sleep if she even needed it after being stone for so long.

The Victorian house was frozen in time, everything in it was from that era, from the furniture to the paintings. The first floor had all the common rooms, kitchen, living room, den, office, and library. Upstairs were all the bedrooms and the guest room was made obvious by the fact that it had minimal furniture. There was a radio alarm clock with a tablet docked on to it to play music from or to browse the internet with.

Nicolette was in her dorm room looking at her phone, she did not have a roommate, and she was still feeling unnerved on the prank she fell for.

Deidrie cocked her head to the side when the woman tried to close the door in her face. She could tell that it seemed that common courtesy wasn’t present in this day and age. Though coming to that conclusion suddenly would be a bit presumptuous so she simply let it slide for now. With that in mind she simply stepped inside of the home, her already having gotten permission from the homeowner more or less. As she made her way through the home she glanced around and could tell that the home seems to be quite old, though it was rather familiar to her considering her previous awakening.

Regardless, Deidrie had seemed to have found a place to stay for the night, though in all honesty she had wanted to abscond away with Nicolette to her home but such a thing didn’t seem proper at the time. Considering the state of the people in the den it didn’t seem like they would be awake for too much longer. The bottle of rum probably wouldn’t even get halfway down by the time they all passed out. While they drank themselves and laughed about Drea pulled Mary to the side and into the hallway, her saying once they were alone, “I think it best if you turned in for the night soon.”

After she said that she smiled warmly, “Too much spirits will only make your morning that much worse. Be the smarter one out of them and you can rub it in when you wake up in better shape than your friends.” Drea seemed to have had an inkling that this woman would relish the chance to tease her hungover friends the nest morning. Regardless Drea figured on finding out where she could stay for the night, so with that in mind she asked flat out, “Where perchance can I stay for the night?” The house was rather large bit she didn’t want to simply decide where she would sleep in someone else's home.

Mary barely made sense of what this strange woman had to say, “The bathroom is under the stairs, if someone is occupying it, use the one up stairs on the left, the guest room is across from it.” She licked her teeth with her tongue between dark red lips and sat down in one of the ornate arm chairs. As predicted all the women dozed off instantly leaving Deidrie on her own.

At the end of the night Mary was under age drinking and having an older student as a friend would help her drown her sorrows even if she could barely understand what she was saying half the time. Times have changed, perhaps too much for Deidrie which would explain why Nicolette rejected her at the start. People were no longer trustworthy of each other and were full of their own personal issues. There were practical ways to convince someone that a statue was in fact a real person in this age and Nicolette refused to be fooled by such a trivial notion; she was a scholar after all.

Drea watched as they all fairly quickly passed out. Even if one of them was a bit short with her earlier she didn’t think she could just leave them out in the open like that. Letting them sleep like this would surely have them catch a cold or something. With a light sigh she went about looking in the home for some blankets and pillows. Eventually she stumbled across where they ket such things and she took a couple back to the den.

The lot of them were strewn all over the room so it took some effort to get them all in one spot. She was certain that she wouldn’t be able to carry them all up the stairs, maybe one of them but all of them would be too much. With that in mind, she made a small pallet on the floor and laid them all on it, each head on a pillow after some effort. With a blanket over the lot of them she let out a large sigh, it having been quite a while since she exerted herself so much.

Coincidently though she figured she should take the one who allowed her a place to stay for the night to an actual bed through. So with that in mind she lifted up Mary and struggled to carry her up the stairs, though eventually she made it to the guest room. After removing the woman’s shoes she placed her snug in bed and sat on the other side. “Such a busy first day,” Drea said aloud to herself as she looked out the window from the bed, her then smiling lightly, “At least it was eventful.”

She wasn’t quite sure if sharing a bed was frowned upon but after such laborious effort she didn’t feel like moving to another guest room. With that in mind she simply laid her head upon the opposite pillow and closed her eyes. Soon she was asleep and the nest day would surely follow.

Mary got up first, she had nightmares without her insomnia medication, and it did not surprise her to be in a room that was not hers in the house. Every time she wondered how she made it home if she was not on alcohol she was on medication which gave her the same effect in the long run. It was part of the reason she was so disturbed in the first place. When she got out of bed she noticed Deidrie was still asleep and left her alone to return to her room.

Despite the sun light entering Mary’s room, the black walls, and furniture still seemed gloomy. With a quick shower, change of clothes, and a swig of more alcohol and pills she was on her way. Nothing brought her more joy than to mess with Nicolette Levine, despite being recent friends, she still found ways to annoy her even the slightest of ways.

The university campus was directly across the street and in no time Mary was at the Library again. Police officers were there and Nicolette was downcast from being questioned. Mary giggled at the sight of her, taking pictures of her distressed expression with her DSLR camera, and waited until the Police left to approach her.

“Hey, I slept with your girlfriend last night.” Mary said slyly.

“That’s weird, I didn’t know you were roommates.” Nicolette shrugged off, “The statue is missing, I thought whoever took it would put it back somewhere else on campus by now as a joke.”

Mary was confused, “I thought you were behind it all. I guess I was giving you too much credit. Oh well I am sure whatever her name is has a plan. Did you know she is old enough to buy booze? We are gonna be best friends.”

Nicolette sighed, “You really shouldn’t drink and take pills. It could stop your heart or something be careful. Deidrie needs to return the statue or she will get arrested if they ever find out she was involved, I didn’t say anything about her to the cops. I have to get back to work, the librarian is already upset with me, she thinks I am involved no matter how much I deny it.”

Deidrie was undisturbed when Mary got up and left, her more or less in a deep sleep for the moment. Though about an hour after Mary had left she roused herself awake. Considering the bed was one that was typical of higher class people back in her time it was a well enough sleep. With a few sparse stretches she stood from the bed, her glancing around at her surroundings. She figured that wouldn’t be allowed to stay another night and she didn’t really want to impose on a mere acquaintance she had just recently met anyway.

With all of that in mind she redressed and started to look around the home a bit more, her searching out things that were alien and new additions to the home. If she was going to live in this new age she would certainly need to accustom herself to the ins and outs of daily life. After a bit of exploring she came across the lavatory, though the fixtures seemed a bit different. Fiddling with the knobs and the like she learned how to operate the fixtures more or less. In her time bathing in such luxury would be seen as a mark of status, though even in those times a warm bath was a once a month thing.

Unable to help herself she turned the faucets and inadvertently hit a switch that caused the faucet to switch to the shower head which surprised her something fierce. With a double blink she put her arm underneath the cascading droplets and let out a light giggle, her feeling foolish to have jumped at such a thing. “Wondrous,” she simply stated as she disrobed and stepped into the shower, her closing the curtain behind herself as she did so. While there she stumbled upon some shampoo and had an even more wondrous time.

Eventually she left the shower and dried herself off, though in all honesty she didn’t think it right to simply wear her previous clothes. After one becomes clean wearing something previously worn seems out right wrong. With that in mind she stewed over it for a rather lengthy amount of time standing with a towel over her exposed body.

“Woah, someone that isn’t completely passed out,”
a voice stated and then continued, “Mary’s friends are usually dead to the world at this point. It’s a shame her father isn’t more involved in that girls life.” A woman looking to be in her late twenties stood there at the door, her looking over Deidrie for a moment before adding with a gesture for her to follow, “Follow me, you’re gonna need something to wear I guess. By the way, what's your name? I’ve meet each of her friends to far and you seem new.”

Deidrie paused for a moment and then continued, “Deidrie Valencia, Mary let me stay for the night. Though she really should look after herself better.”

“Ha, I agree with you there young lady,”
the woman stated and then continued, “Karen Chambers, aid to the mayor Mary’s father. Let’s get you decent.”

"Ha! Serves you right!" Mary laughed before being silenced by a library patron. "Darn this place."

With a grumble under her breath Mary left to class which took place mid-morning resuming her usual course schedule for the day.

Nicolette was tasked with Library circulation duties for a while until the Librarian took over and tasked her to put returned books back on their shelves. As punishment she had a large workload of books which would take hours to complete. At the back of the library she could see the yellow police tape blocking the green house. It was of great concern to the university to have their property returned it mattered little to the police with more criminal priority cases than to bother with a missing statue. Even while being questioned Nicolette overheard one of the officers claim the statue was worth less than 500 USD as it had not been appraised since its installation.

After a while of shelving Nicolette came across a book of french portraits, out of curiosity she looked at the index to find Mon Amour Lis, and it was listed on page 96. It was a rather large book with high quality photographs of the art and the resemblance of Deidrie was uncanny. However, the google arts & culture app pulled up as many as 10 possible doppelganger works of art ever since Nicholas Cage appeared in an old painting. It was just a gimmick at the time to catalog people's photos for free in order to develop their face recognition software.

It was only for a second that she believed in Deidrie, as she had transformed before her eyes, but between living statue performers and finding a piece of art of someone that could have potentially been an ancestor, she remained unconvinced at the end. Even so perhaps it was more important to develop a friendship at first rather than insist on a fairy tale.

In each age status was important in one's survival and also one's caliber of life. At the moment Deidrie was at the bottom rung of the ladder, her having no real connections in the world other than a few acquaintances. In all honesty she didn’t really know where to begin in this world, but if things were at least similar to her previous awakening connections would be rather important. With all of that in mind she pondered over her next move while being assisted by the assistant she had just met.

After she was done getting dressed the aid commented in passing amidst several topic points, “I would stay longer but the mayor is asking for assistance with the theft of the statue across the way.”

    “Theft?”
Deidrie asked not really getting what she was talking about fist off. Though after thinking on it for a passing moment she realized what she was talking about. “Is the theft of a statue a big crime in this age?”

The aid shook her head and replied as she put the towel away, “Maybe a relatively light fine or six months of jail time. The statue wasn’t priced that high.” The aid didn’t see the need to cover up such a thing as it wasn’t that big of a deal. The only ones that were concerned over it was the university itself for whatever reason.

Regardless Deidrie was a bit conflicted about how someone could pay for such a thing when they didn’t harbor any fault. With that in mind she paused for a moment and then slightly curtsied to the aid named Karen, “I thank you for your assistance Karen Chambers. I do hope we can meet again in the future.”

    “Sure thing,”
she commented and then waved off Deidrie, “I’m sure we’ll run into each other sooner or later.”

Deidrie left the dwelling and was at the moment contemplating how she may solve this problem. It wasn’t like she could return the statue, well if she turned back into the state she could. Seeing how the one who witnessed her changing didn’t even believe her such a thing was sure to come at some point. At the moment she was still walking around so Nicolette at least was a bit conflicted. When the one who placed the kiss doesn’t want Deidrie she will simply turn back into stone, and if the person dies she will also return to stone as well.

    Meanwhile: At campus.

The head mistress of the university approaches Deidrie, a woman in her mid thirties, “Ahh the library assistant. Would you like to tell me about the incident last night?” She paused for a moment and then continued, “I won’t file any legal measures as long as I know what happened. So if you have any kind of information I would like to hear it. No matter how ludicrous it may sound.” There was a hint behind the woman’s eyes that she knew something, something that she wasn’t going to say outright without hearing what Nicolette had to say.
