It was late in the afternoon on a spring day. The clear blue sky faded from a deep blue to purple and red before turning orange close to where the sun hovered close to the rooftops to the west. This stretched the shadows of the buildings across the street with patches of sunlight in between. The sidewalk was wide, it’s concrete slabs cracked and tilted at odd angles along the brick and glass store fronts. At regular intervals pencil thin trees grew with the new baby leafs of spring safe behind the dwarf fences that circled them. Here and there the old style store signs hung out over the street, one such was black bordered with gold and set into it center was a bright green shamrock. The bar beneath had big plate glass windows looking in on a crowded room of hardwoods and brass. Next to it was a narrow bookstore now closed for the day. In its window were hard copies of the newest best sellers. On the corner with pride of place was one of the last places around to still sell comic books and it had an arcade.

Mia adjusted the strap of her shoulder bag as she strode down the street, the heels of her low cut boots clopping along the sidewalk with each step. The long pink locks of hair swayed with each step as it spilled down her back. The heavy knit sweater she wore hid most of her figure in contrast to the tight denim cut off shorts that drew the eye to the soft tanned curves of her long legs and hart shaped ass.

The bell above the door heralded her arrival as pushed open the door to the shop with it’s clear high pitched note. Her hart leaped at the old space invaders cabinet standing in the corner with nostalgia. There had been one just like it at the pizza shop near her house as a little girl. Her older brother would work the joy stick as she tapped the big red button as fast as she could in a futile effort against waves of pixelated aliens. Back then the game had been an antique this was a relic. She was letting herself become distracted by memory as she gripped the joystick. Originally she had tracked this place down hoping to find a few rare comics, but there was time. She fed the coin slot two quarters and lost herself.

It was just before the peak of evening business hours for Mystical Treasures. They would be putting on a small concert in the back room of the store. As the store combined a comic book store, video game shop, coffee house, bar, retro arcade, performance space, occult supply shop, and marijuana dispensary all together under one roof, it was often busy throughout the day. The main room in the front of the store was split in half. When you walked in the door, if you went to the right then you'd be met with small cafe tables and a counter where you could order fancy coffee and tea beverages as well as sodas and snacks. If you went to the left, then you would be met with walls lined with comic books as well as older arcade cabinet games. One such game was Space Invaders. In the middle of the room, there was also a large sitting area filled with overstuffed furniture where people could make themselves comfortable while reading comics and drinking coffee.

There were two side rooms in the front portion of the store as well. One room was filled with several different strains of marijuana and everything you could possibly need to smoke it, but the room was kept locked unless a customer provided a valid form of identification and/or a medical recommendation from their doctor. The other of the two rooms was left open at all times and was filled with all sorts of things used for Witchcraft as well as books on the craft.

When the bell on the door to the store rang and a young girl walked in, one of the store employees, Puck, glanced up from where he stood behind the counter making a coffee beverage for another customer. Puck was blind as he had been injured at a young age and lost his sight. However, he made up for his lack of sight by training his other senses to help him keep track of his surroundings. When he heard the sound of coins plopping into the Space Invaders cabinet, Puck picked up his cane and walked around the counter. He tapped the floor in front of him as he walked, his waist long, silver hair flowing around his waist as he walked. Puck was dressed in a pair of jeans and a sleeveless t-shirt, and his Converse high-tops made little sound as he walked. Grey eyes covered by dark glasses, it was often hard to tell where Puck was looking when he spoke. So, when he stopped near the Space Invaders cabinet, Puck turned towards the sound of the machine as he said, "Welcome to Mystical Treasures. Are you enjoying the game?"

The pixel charecters on the screen danced from left to right in their ranks as they marched down the screen with a “bip-bup” sound. The closer they got to the bottom of the screen the faster they moved causing the steady “bip-bup” to become an alarming “bip-bup-bip-bup”. If she scored a hit on the extra point ship that raced across the screen with its police like siren it made a sound like balling up tin foil, but deeper. It all seemed so primitive compared to the newest multimillion dollar game tittles that it made Candy Crush look sophisticated.

Mia was focused on clearing the screen of enemy’s but she did notice the movement of his approach in her peripheral vision and so managed not to jump when he greeted her. She spoke in an absent manner without looking up from the screen, “It’s more nostalgia than anything, Mario Cart is my game of choice.”. It wasn’t until she had lost her last life that she looked up from the screen and gave him a once over. She found herself smiling inspite having just met him. It was the silver hair, she had to resist the urge to comb her fingers through it. There was no way it could be a dye job, it had to be real despite never having seen anything like it. With the cane and the sunglasses indoors at this hour she could put two and two together and assume his condition but not it’s severity. She found her mind straying to her perfume, could he smell it, was she wearing to much,... did he like it? That last thought threw her for a loop. Was she considering this random blind man as a prospect? This was all running through her mind as she spoke adding a warm tone to her voice, “I came in looking for some comics and got distracted. My friends call me Mia.” She stuck out her hand in greeting causing the charm bracelet on her wrist to jingle and immediately had second thoughts. She couldn’t decide if the gesture was somehow rude considering his blindness and in this skatter brained fashion instantly chastised herself for feeling insecure about greeting a stranger. She would stick her hand out and if he couldn’t see it well then fuck it.

Puck simply smiled as he took Mia's hand in greeting. "I am Puck," he said as he gripped her hand for a few seconds. His touch lingered on hers for a moment, feeling the softness of her skin. After a few seconds, he let go of her hand and then placed both hands on the cane before him as he seemed to meet her gaze with a kind smile as he said, "So, what comics were you looking for? Perhaps I can help you find them by pointing you towards the right shelf."

True, Puck was blind. He had been since he was very young and was attacked by people who believed he had a power that he had not yet been able to possess. Since then, Puck had been granted a new kind of sight. True Sight is what the ability was often referred to as. He could see the auras of people, which appeared to him as swirling colorful lights around each person. When he turned his blind eyes to Mia, Puck was a bit confused by her aura. She seemed kind enough, but also a bit rough around the edges. With a mental shrug, Puck shook away the thoughts as he decided he would just have to try and get to know Mia if he wished to know the truth of her confusing aura.

Puck shook himself out of his mental babbling as he said, "I'm sorry. I was lost in thought for a moment. Did you answer me?"

Her smile widened as he shook her outstretched hand. As they shook hands she took a look at his fingernails which could be an automatic disqualification akin to shit breath. She way happy to find his nails neatly trimmed without any sign of a hangnail. Satisfied she mentally checked off the box. He could be blind but chewed up fingernails was out of the question.

Mia wasn’t sure how much help a blind man could be at picking out comic books, but he did seem to know his way around and he did work there. “I was looking for some of the older ones to fill out my Spiderman and Superman collections. Would you have any from the the sixties and early seventies?” It was true she did have an extensive collection of comic books accumulated over the years. The old comics where fine but Spawn was her favorite and her collection of that comic was almost complete. While she could not hope to pay for the top collectors editions, she did what she could afford and drooled over the rest.

As she selected an older Spiderman comic and looked it over she asked him,” Have you worked here long?”. She was taking in the colors and lines a clear indication of its age. “Do you you have hobbies?” She asked the question in the hopes of finding out more about him.

Puck nodded his head when she asked him about the comics she was seeking to fill out her collections. She was looking for somewhat pricey comics, yes, but he was sure he could cut her a nice deal and be sure she wouldn't break the bank. With a teasing smile, Puck looked at her saying, "Let me see what I can find for you." He then smiled at her as he tapped the dark glasses that covered his unseeing eyes and said, "No pun intended." As he went over to the counter and tapped a few keys on a keyboard, Puck said, "And I, also enjoy some of the older comics. I greatly enjoyed the Spawn comics, as well as the older Batman comics. Though, I also like the New 52 character designs for the newer DC Comics."

"And I have worked here since the store was first opened by my friend, Dragomir," Puck said with a kind smile in Mia's direction as he printed off a sheet of paper, which printed in braille so he could read it. After running his fingers over the page, Puck lead Mia to a shelf and told her that she'd find all of their older Superman comics there. "As for my hobbies, I do enjoy reading and writing a bit. I also greatly enjoy listening to music and audio books. And I am a bit of a match-maker, too, so I often help my friends with their relationships and set them up with people. You know, sort of playing Cupid? Oh! And I enjoy playing little pranks on my coworkers."
