The trees were moistened with now departing dew, the day now starting to flutter way from it's early morning hours. A young woman lay motionless among a varying assortment of leaves and vegetation. Though as a droplet of water trickled onto her forehead she roused herself awake. A few slow blinks followed as she stared up at a canopy, something quite surprising to the young woman. She sat up and rubbed the back of her head trying to think about how she even found herself in such a place.

Things flashed through her mind in that moment, one sided conversations mostly. 'You can thank me now. I'm giving you another life after all! I'm just the best right?' Then another string of fragments flooded in next, 'Oww...oww...owwwww. Okay okay, sorrrrrrry! Thank of this second life as an apology. You should have had another ten years. I screwed up.'

    "Amelia,"
the young woman said with a light smile on her lips as she stood from her spot on the ground and dusted herself off, "That was my name." Though the memories of this person she was speaking to were fragmented, she still remembered who she was. Previously she was an older woman who had recently died and her name was Amelia Bradbury. Even though she knew who she was she still had literally zero ideas about 'who' she was.

As she glanced around she found herself glancing down at herself, her cocking her head to the side as she commented aloud, "What am I wearing..?" With that little question asked she placed her hand on her hip and realized that she had a sword on her person as well. "Ehh? What in the...?"

    Name: Galatea
    Age: 21
    Gender: Female
    Species: Wood Nymph
    [IMG]

All had seemed normal that morning--Galatea had woken up by the sound of the larks singing in the trees outside her home. The sun shined just the same as the day before, the grass just as green, the stream just as clear as it gushed over river rocks and moss. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary in the slightest; that is, before Gal left to gather for the day.

As the fair-haired woman made her way across the stream and to the clearing where she picked wildflowers and other things for her practice, a dark lump appeared ahead of her in the path. Steadily, Galatea approached the obstruction until she was about three yards away, where she stopped, letting herself blend into the foliage around her. The aforementioned lump was not just a pile of overgrowth like the nymph had predicted, but something living.

Suddenly, the being stood up and dusted itself off, mumbling quietly. Gal had intended to wait until the thing had vacated before continuing on her trek, but the sight of this creature's profile made Galatea gasp. No pointed ears. This was no elf, no were, no vampire. All of those creatures had distinctly sharp ears specific to their species. This could only be one thing.

    A human.

Do not move a muscle, Gal thought to herself. This previously assumed extinct species was standing before her in the flesh, causing the wood nymph's heart to race. These creatures were connected to so much destruction, so much hatred, and so much violence in the legends and stories--Galatea knew that if she wanted to stay safe, she needed to stay hidden.

Amelia didn't really know what to do, seeing as how she was utterly unsure about where she happened to be. From the fragmented memories from this person she spoke to she knew that she was no longer on her old world, but other than that it was a blank. It was rather apparent that she was in a forest but she hardly figured that she would just run up on someone to assist her in such a place. With a light sigh she ran her hands through her pockets, wondering if there perhaps was some kind of info on her person. Eventually she happened upon a letter, her unfolding it and scanning it with her eyes.

    Dear Amelia,

Sorry about having to remove most of the talk we had up stairs. It's just a rule that I have to stick to is all. Throwing you into this kind of situation without any kind of explanation didn't sit well with me. With that in mind I decided to give you a little explanation through this letter. I'll keep it short and sweet though.

You died on your original world, sorry about that. That was totally my bad. Now you're living another life on this new world. The place is vastly different than your original world so it might take some time to adjust. Since it was my fault I gave you some perks as well, just think status and you can see your stats.

    Hehe

I thought that up by looking at what you humans on earth call a RPG, I'm kind of addicted now. Anyway, I'm sure you'll do fine. I'll be seeing you around so just live your life to it's fullest!

    Sincerely,
    God ♥

PS: You pack one hell of a kick!

Amelia pursed her lips and thought on what the letter entailed, her now getting what all of those fragmented thoughts were. This person was the one who sent her to this world and by what was divulged adjusting might be a bit laborious. With a second sigh she just placed the letter back in her pocket and looked around at her surroundings. With all of that in mind she brushed a few strands of hair out of her face and started to walk, though half way to the tree line she glanced over to where Galatea was hiding.

    "Is someone there?"
She asked aloud with a narrowing stare toward the hiding woman, her adding, "I don't like stalkers you hear!"

Galatea shut her eyes, trying to slow her own heart beat which was racing in her chest. Once her heart rate slowed down, she opened her eyes to watch again. The human had taken a piece of parchment out, read it, and sighed before putting it away. Whatever that parchment said wasn't good, it seemed. Gal shifted, just wanting to get to of there and go about her business.

Unfortunately this wasn't in the cards, because once the creature began to move away from the spot it had woken up--and the spot where the wood nymph was hiding--it suddenly stopped. Not only stopped, but looked directly at her.

    Shit.

Slowly, with shaking hands, Galatea stepped out from her hiding spot, avoiding the eyes of this human. "I'm sorry, I mean no harm, I was on my way to gather in the field further that way and I saw you." Her voice, though fearful, was melodic and pure like a song. It was the same voice that sang lullabies to the trees every night, the same voice the whispered words of encouragement to flowers, and now it was the voice trying to maintain peace between her and the destructive legend before her.

Amelia at the moment didn't realize that she was indeed being peeped on. Quite frankly she had always wanted to call out to someone like that, which oddly enough seemed to pan out this time. She had done a similar thing several times in the past to only be met with no reply. To her shock she double blinked, "Oh, so there was someone?" After this realization was stated aloud she paused for a moment and just looked at the woman who made herself known, more or less looking her over.

"No harm no foul I suppose,"
she simply said with a light nod of her head and then added, "Could you perhaps show me to the nearest town?" Seeing as how the woman was out in the forest she surely had to know her way back out. Quite frankly Amelia had initially figured on just picking a direction and just walking, which would have been a huge flip of a coin. In stark contrast to how humans are thought of, Amelia didn't seem to be the war crazed example legends spoke of.

"It might be a bit presumptuous but I would appreciate it if you helped me out,"
she concluded with a few steps toward the woman, her weapon still in it's place at her side.

Gal frowned a bit, processing what this human was saying to her. This wasn't at all like the stories her elders had spoken about; this human seemed to be uninterested in causing havoc and destruction. Slowly letting down her guard and testing the waters out, Galatea straightened up to her height of five feet and ten inches--a height that was on the shorter end of nymphs, but not at all short.

"You seem to be mistaken, there isn't another town for miles. You're in the middle of the Kaisariani Forest," Gal said, shaking her head as she assessed the woman before her. "You are human, are you not? How did you get here?" The wood nymph took a step closer, starting to examine her facial structure as well as determine her realistic danger.

Galatea's morning run for supplies was all but abandoned at the moment for this interesting creature, even letting her guard down with the forest around her in favor of inspecting this human. That was, until she heard a rather loud branch snap that caused her head to jerk in the direction of the sound. "Follow me," the fair-haired woman said, grabbing the human's wrist and leading her quickly back to her home hidden within the foliage.

It seemed at first glance that this woman didn't really plan on attacking her, which was a good thing. At least knowing someone was a step in the right direction in this new world. Although the woman was beyond suspicious, completely understandable in this kind of situation. With a light nod of her head she was about to answer the questions that were asked. Before she could answer the questions she suddenly found herself being pulled along by this stranger.

    "You're awfully cautious,"
Amelia said with a quirked brow as she was being led to the aforementioned hidden home, her continuing as they were on their way, "Though I guess you have your own reasons to be so." As they reached the home Amelia looked at it for a short moment, her seeing that it was pretty well hidden in the foliage of the forest. After the short look at the home she turned to face the young woman, her addressing her with a light smile, "Telling all to a stranger would be bad would it not? I'm pretty sure you wouldn't do the same correct?"

With a light chuckle she answered the previous questions as she waited to be asked inside, "Yes indeed. I am a human, least that's what everyone's been telling me for as long as I can remember." After she said that she peered at the woman and asked her own question, "What about you missy? I guess you're not a human correct?" Amelia figured on at least getting a bit of info for the questions she would be surely answering. After all this whole place was new to her, any info would be invaluable.

Galatea hardly looked back at the other woman as they made their way back to her home, only turning to make sure they weren't being followed before she ushered the being inside. "These woods hold more danger than you see on the surface." The nymph led the human into her cook room and motioned to the chair beside a large wooden table strewn with various jars and pots of plants, spices, sugars, and other things.

Turning to put a copper kettle over her stone fire pit, Gal sighed quietly and asked, "Would you like some tea?" She lit a match and tossed it into the pit, starting a small fire underneath the metal. Grabbing two cups from the cupboard and filling them with tea leaves, Gal listened to the other woman speak before finally turning back to her.

"It's Galatea. And, no, I am not human," Galatea said, the word dripping with slight distaste--"I am a nymph. A wood nymph, if you're that interested." Without skipping a beat, the nymph stepped closer to the other woman, eyeing her curiously. "How did you end up here?" She asked quietly, almost as if she were asking herself. "What is your name?"

"Some tea would be lovely. Also my name is Amelia Bradbury," she simply said as she looked around at the room a bit more intently, her having taken the seat previously gestured toward. "Your distaste for what I am doesn't necessarily make me want to be up front with you," Amelia said with a rather matter-of-fact tone. With that said she paused for a short moment and then continued with a light shake of her head, "I suppose discrimination is something that is inescapable." Quite frankly she didn't really know if telling this stranger how she really came to be here would be a good idea.

A belabored sigh left her lips and then she broke the silence, "I was in one place and then suddenly I arrived in this forest." It wasn't a lie, after all she didn't know the specifics of how she was reincarnated and placed in the world. Such a thing surely only a deity would know, after all flat out saying that you were given a second life would be loco. "Though," she said with a quirked brow looking at the woman, her adding narrowing her gaze at Galatea, "Simply mentioning human and you in the same sentence certainly drew some venom in your words." She brushed the hair out of her own face and then continued, her meeting the woman's eyes as she did so, "Would sharing a bit of tea with a 'human' also leave a bad taste in your mouth?"

Amelia knew next too nothing about this world and the tales that were told of the ancient race of humanity. Though it would surely be obvious by now that she wasn't the poster-buddy for the tales.

Galatea's eyes snapped back to Amelia's, a short laugh escaping her lips before she stalked back to the kettle. "You should not even be here, Amelia. Your kind was wiped out centuries ago." She spoke matter-of-factly as she poured the boiling water into the two cups of leaves. "Your kind was wiped out by it's own greed and desire. This land has only just recovered from human's touch in the last hundred years. So, yes, you could say that I have a bit of bad taste in my mouth regarding you humans." Her voice carried a slightly aggressive edge, not even bothering to sugar coat her feelings or the truth. However, the energy shifted when Gal brought the cups of tea to the table and sat down next to Amelia.

"But you have not wronged me, harmed me, or made any unwelcome advances against me. So as far as you are concerned, Amelia," Galatea paused for a moment, once again examining the woman before her, "You are just as welcome here as I." She leaned back again, sipping her tea. "And as long as you are here in my home, I will treat you just as well as I treat any other creature that comes in those doors. However, if you are feeling cheeky," She began, the energy shifting yet again in the small room, "If you bring harm to me or my home, you won't have enough time to even blink before I call upon the spirits and end your pathetic existence. Understood?"

"Hmm," Amelia said with a purse of her lips and then commented on the last little bit of what Galatea had said, "Pathetic existence? Seems humans are not the only ones who have an inflated sense of self worth." With that said she simply shrugged and only took a few sips of the tea that was left in front of her, "This pathetic existence won't dally in your home any longer." She stood from the seat and then continued as she walked over to the door, her saying as she turned to face Galatea, "Simply point me in the right direction and I will be on my way." Amelia didn't really want to hang around any longer, seeing as how this Galatea was far to similar to an overbearing auntie.

After having taken a glance at her own stats in between the back and forth with Galatea she had gotten a rough idea of her own capabilities. While Amelia wasn't one who partook in Role Playing Games in her previous life the general idea seemed easy enough to understand. Going by what was on the screen that would pop up when she thought on it she was suited for close combat and healing/recovery magic? This recovery magic seemed to be related to what is classified as light.

All in all she knew at least she should be fine if some danger were to crop up on her way to which ever village was closest. She cocked her head to the side and commented with a questioning tone, "Though if you wish to be an escort for a part of the way that would also be ever so kind of a superior being such as yourself." Amelia in this moment couldn't help herself, her seeing that this woman would be ever so fun to prod a bit with a jab here and there.

Galatea snorted and shook her head. "You humans are so proud, you can't even see what I am saying through the lenses of your inflated ego." She stood and put her cup into the stone sink. "You honestly think that you would be able to last a night in these woods? Humans are more foolish than the stories tell. Either that, or you are dafter than the rest of your kind."

Gal clenched her jaw, fighting to hold back the rest of the things she wished to say to this ungrateful creature she had made the mistake of protecting. "If you insist of stomping around and disrespecting every creature you come into contact with, you aren't going to live long enough to make it even halfway out of these woods," She said through gritted teeth. "Now, if you would put your pride aside for some time, I can fit you with things you would need for the journey, but I do not follow outside of the forest." She paused and sat down on the table, gesturing back towards the chair beside her. "You'd be hard pressed to find any creature here that would help you, so I suggest that you wise up and realize what is being offered to you."

"Wise up hm?" Amelia said with a slight shake of her head and then continued, "Accepting help is all well and good but accepting too much only make any given person that much worse off." She could see that this woman was offering help becasue she felt herself responsible, which was completely understandable. "I can only see what you're saying through what I know from my personal experiences," Amelia said in her own matter-of-fact way and then elaborated, "I can see you respect and understand those around you but it seems you could care less to understand the very person in front of you right now." Amelia had a short chuckle leave her lips and then she nodded, "I suppose I have messed around with you a bit too much."

Amelia raised a brow and narrowed her eyes at the woman, her asking in turn, "Putting all of that teasing aside. How about we start off by getting to know each other first?" She asked that and then moved to the chair next to Galatea, taking the seat in turn as she continued, "What do you do for fun? Do you have a hobby that you enjoy?"

For the first time in Galatea's interactions with this Amelia character, the nymph felt at ease. Whoever this woman was, she had the nerve to stand her ground even as she admitted partial fault, and she respected that. Galatea smiled wryly, her own brow quirking up as the woman sat down. "I was actually on my way to the meadow a few miles down when I ran across you. I guess you could consider flower picking my hobby." The young woman motioned to the various jars of flowers that lined the walls. "I'm also a follower of Pan. I tend to his altar by the creek. Sometimes I play music."

The woman searched her brain for other things she did, coming up short. "That...is all," she said simply. Once again her focus went back to the creature before her. "What about you? Since I obviously struggle to understand, what do you do enjoy doing?"

"My hobbies?" She said aloud and thought on that for a short moment. Considering what she had seen of this world certain things would surely not exist, meaning her answer should reflect the world she was currently in. With that in mind she spoke lightly tapping her chin with her index finger, "Reading to start off I suppose. I often find myself pouring over some kind of book ever now and then." After she said that she paused for a moment and then continued, "I do also like spending time with people, though I suppose that wouldn't be considered an actual hobby."

"As a young one I also liked sparing with my siblings,"
Amelia said with a rather warm smile on her lips looking over at Galatea. Seeing as how she had listed a few things she enjoyed she decided to continue on this self exploration venture between the two of them. "I do wonder about you a bit though," she stated with a contemplative nod of her head. After trailing off for a moment she continued, "Do you sustain yourself through water and the air? or can you sustain yourself by eating common foods?" Amelia certainly didn't know what common food was in this world but she just went with the question regardless.

"If you answer mine I'll answer one about humans,"
she said with a cheeky grin. Quite frankly this was a good opportunity to learn a bit more about this world, her figuring on starting off with the only other person that she had met so far. Humans after all were apparently basically a myth now, and Amelia didn't really mind answering a question if she knew the answer.

Something was different about Amelia, that much Galatea knew. Beyond the obvious 'humans have been extinct for hundreds of years' dilemma, something in Amelia's demeanor didn't match what legends had said about humans. It intrigued her, yes, but Gal refused to get any closer to the woman. Even if she seemed different than what the nymph knew about humans, she could still harm her yet.

"Reading, that is lovely. If you change your mind about trying to venture out of these woods, I can show you a rather breathtaking waterfall next to a watering hole; it's a wonderful place to read." Gal tried to come off a little more welcoming, but travelers in her part of the wood were scarce, so she was slightly out of practice. "Oh!" She exclaimed in response to Amelia's question. The human's grin was contagious, causing Gal's own lips to twitch up in a slight smile.

"Well, I suppose I could live solely on water and the sun, but what fun is that?" The nymph laughed quietly, shrugging a bit. "I enjoy tasting food. But I don't need it to survive." Galatea thought on her question for Amelia, wanting to make it count. "Is it true humans can't breathe underwater?" As someone who enjoyed going for a swim during the summer, and occasionally visit the nereids, Galatea could hardly fathom not being able to just hold your breath while you were under the water.

By what Galatea had said she did indeed seem like she was closely related to plants, or at least in some form she was. Keeping that in mind she did wonder if other things associated with foliage applied to her. Regardless she did say that she would answer a question posed by Galatea so she listened intently for what would be asked. Having heard the question she cocked her head to the side a bit, her finding the question rather odd to say the least. "Short of some form of assistance we can not breath underwater," Amelia said with an affirmative nod of her head and then continued after taking a short sip of her tea, "I would like to see this waterfall you mentioned. It sounds like a great place."

Galatea's suggestion answered, Amelia leaned back in her seat a small bit and glanced over at the woman, "Seeing a bit of the forest before I leave would be fun." Amelia ran her fingers through her hair absentmindedly, her seemingly lost in thought for a moment. "I really shouldn't impose on you for more than a day," she affirmed leaning forward on the table a small bit and then adding, "Perhaps the waterfall for today and then I'll be off tomorrow morning?"

"Hm," Galatea started, slipping off the table with an almost fluidity to her. "I suppose I can show you what it's like to live in the forest, even if just for a day. After you get to the forest's edge, you might just change your mind about leaving." The nymph chuckled lightly, motioning to Amelia to follow her through the rest of her little home. "But first, I'll show you to your room for tonight and fit you with..."--She looked back at the woman's attire--"...something more comfortable. Yes?"

Without another beat, Gal began to descend a previously unnoticeable staircase--the organized clutter of her kitchen hid the half-wall marking the entrance. The stairs creaked with every step, the old wrought iron twisted in a beautiful spiral that had seemingly been there for ages--possibly long before Gal had even come to exist. Finally, the nymph stepped onto a cool dirt floor and turned the oil lamp on, bathing the whole room in light.

"This is my room, but you'll be staying here tonight. I need to grab a few things before we go to the waterfall--for the altar--so I'll let you go through what I have to see if you might like to change."

Amelia for the most part didn't really know what she wanted to do in this new world. It was quite apparent that she would have no connections nor would she have any form of capital. Having a lack of such things would surely put a hamper on her getting settled into this world but such a thing was unavoidable in such a situation. For now following along with her newly met acquaintance would be the best option, after all she actually lives in this world.

With all of that in mind she follows behind Galatea as she makes her way down a metal stair case, it seeming to be quite old and rough around the edges. The fact that it was hammered out and shaped by hand was beyond evident. "Something more comfortable," she stated in response to Galatea's statement and then added on her way down, "I suppose this center piece is a bit cumbersome." Amelia had yet to really think on her attire in earnest, after all things were and bit all over the place with the whole coming to another world angle.

    "Yeah sure,"
Amelia replied with a light nod of her head to Galatea, her lost in thought as she looked over the things that were present in the woman's room. With everything that had been revealed to Amelia thus far things started to come together in her mind about her plans for the future. Her mind racing with ideas and future plans she removed her oddly elaborately decorated center guard and let her slim waist breath. After doing that she also removed her over coat with the letter therein and sat it to the side next to her center guard. With a light sigh she also took her sword from her side and looked it over for a moment, it seeming to have some kind of carvings down the length of the blade.

Looking at the weapon it seemed to be assortments of crosses down the length of it accompanied by a line, a faint white light seeming to be within for some odd reason. Unbeknownst to Amelia this weapon was tied to the class that she had yet to look into on her status screen that the god had previously mentioned. Though if anyone knew anything about enchantment they would quickly realize that the weapon is a very expensive item that one would only be able to find in the deepest depths of dungeons or in the hands of royalty. This sword has a name associated with it and that name is Einherjar, or army of one. Unbeknownst to the people of this age he sword was wielded by a holy cleric in his fights against the darkness during this worlds early human history.

The sword was lost lost before the humans went extinct, thus it played no part in their downfall.

"Is it just me or is this sword a bit odd,"
Amelia said aloud for Galatea to hear. Amelia for the life of her seeming to not even think about looking up the weapon in her status.

Gal bowed slightly and departed back up the stairs, going back to her kitchen to gather her things and provide Amelia with privacy while she changed. The woodland creature moved about her space with fluid grace as she grabbed various flowers from different jars and placed them within her wicker basket. Queen Anne's Lace for sanctuary, statice for remembrance, sunflower for pure thoughts, aster for patience, amaryllis for splendid beauty, red carnations for admiration, pink carnations for gratitude, white carnations for purity, and daisy for innocence. Despite all flora being kept within jars, each flower she pulled out was fresh, as if it had just been cut. She also added a variety of fruits to her basket, like blueberries and grapes.

After Galatea finished collecting the things she needed for the altar, the woman made her way back to her quarters just in time to hear Amelia's question. "Hm?" She asked as she rounded the end of the stairs. Looking to the sword in question, Gal tilted her head slightly. "May I?" Gal questioned, reaching her hand out to examine the sword. "It's nothing like I've ever seen before. Perhaps one of the priests of Pan might know more about it." She turned the heavy weapon in her hand, feeling the light emanating from the metal in her palm.

Gal handed the sword back to her, shaking her head. "It does seem odd. Like there is something...within." The nymph looked to Amelia, half-undressed before her. "Caught up looking at it, I see?" She teased with a quirked brow. "I can hardly blame you. That blade is...something else."
