Daphne was disturbed in the middle of the night. Lucia had had a bad dream and had tears rolling down her rosy cheeks staining them with streaks. Daphne’s body was still sore from the previous night, remembering the senseless beating she had received from Draco. Though it brought physical pain to do so, she moved to adjust to the tiny body that pushed herself under the blanket to cuddle with her mother. It wasn’t long until the small, blonde child fell right to sleep once again.

When Daphne started to stir from her slumber, she realized that Lucia was no longer cuddling with her, instead she had completely flipped upside down, spread eagle with her foot pushing into Daphne’s thigh. She pushed her foot away and moved to sit up. Wincing as she sat on her butt. She thought of the conversation she had actually listened to between the pair: Draco and Daphne. She wanted to cry again but knew that would wake the sleeping tot, something that would be much worse than allowing her to sleep. Instead, she padded to the bathroom to draw herself a warm bath, pouring a potion to ease the pain she felt.

Maybe thirty minutes later Lucia had walked into the bathroom rubbing her eyes, “I wanna bath Mommy.” She spoke through a yawn. Daphne nodded silently with a smile. She found the strength to get out of the water and drained the tub, Lucia wouldn’t need the potion. She drew another one adding in bubble bath soap. She helped Lucia in. She washed her hair before leaving her into to soak with several of her toys to keep her occupied. Daphne went back into her room to get fully dressed, a towel not going to suffice for the day.

She found a dark green sweater and a pair of black leggings along with her house slippers. Lucia yelled expressing her time in the bath was finished. Daphne carried her daughter into her own room to find her clothes for the day, Lucia putting her input at every step. She wanted to wear a tutu, so what did Daphne do: she found a pink tutu. She found a cute outfit to go with the tutu and then the two went into the kitchen to prepare a gourmet breakfast. Two bowls of cereal with a side of sliced apples.

Lucia looked disgruntled as they sat at the table, “What’s wrong with you?” Daphne asked as she spooned the cereal in her mouth. Lucia huffed, frowning, “My nail polish…look.” She brought her tiny hand up showing the shipping nail polish. Daphne mocked an expression of shock, “What?! Girl we gotta fix that. We can’t have Miss Diva going out like that.” Lucia giggled, “Let’s have a girl day.” Daphne was happy that she had a daughter, she had never been girly growing up but Lucia brought it out. Lucia nodded excitedly.

The early morning was filled with nail painting, facials and gossiping. Mostly about Lucia’s grandparents and the other kids she had met at the park. After lunch Lucia found herself in front of a television slowly falling asleep. Daphne was going through paperwork of upcoming work; the ministry was pulling a few new beasts for her to look at. Work wasn’t as steady as she would like for it to be; she might have to go in to help her father with his work. She heard a knock at the door. Finishing a sentence, she stood up from the couch and went to answer the door. When she saw Draco standing at her stoop her heart sank, “Lucia’s asleep, what do you want?” she explained coldly. The memories of Draco and the belt too fresh in her mind. It was supposed to be fun, kinky even, but he had turned it into a punishment.

That night after having the small heart to heart with Daphne about how he was sorry and wanted a life with her, with their child. He left. He snuck out of bed after Daphne had fallen asleep, grabbed his shoes quietly, not bothering to put them on, and left, not even saying goodbye.

He knew he didn't deserve a goodbye, he knew that waking her up to give her a hug and a kiss was a terrible mistake that he giant have. Tonight was a big enough mistake. He turned a wonderful, loving, redeeming night into a torcherous night that will leave the haunted feeling in the pit of his stomach. He will remember the way her body jerked with every hit, and the way she laid limp on the couch while blood left her bare ass cheek. He did that. He hurt her. Again.

He left her years ago with a broken heart and assumptions, only to come back with a little girl who had his eyes and attitude. He wanted that, he was ready to reach for it, it was so close...than he ruined it by letting his fucked up emotions get the best of him.

He went home, to the wonderful house that seemed all to boring compared to Daphnes. His house was to clean for his liking, it almost looked staged how clean and put together it was. Daphne's was the complete opposite. She had fabrics laying around, dresses and outfits being tossed to the side when she was done. There was so much pink and purple for the little tot to wear.

He closed the front door behind him, not bothering to lock it, it's not like anyone will break in and so far how sour Draco's mood is right now, let someone break in, muggle or no muggle, he'll hex him to the great beyond that not even Merlin himself could find them.

Dropping his dress shoes lazily as he walked, not caring if he mucks up his perfect white carpet, he walked his way to his room. Untucking his dress shirt from his dress pants, unbuttoning the now fucked up shirt, throwing it to the floor, wanting to get get about it. He went to grab his belt buckle. His silver belt buckle. His hand looked down at the silver as he held it, not moving. All at once, quickly, Draco unclipped the belt and rugged it off his body as fast as he could, throwing the damned thing across the room, letting it hit a nearby mirror. He didn't care about the broken glass that now lay on his floor, or the way his heart was beating in his chest. He only cared about the last twenty four hours.

He collapsed onto his bed, sitting, his body hunched over the edge as his hands cradled his face that had silent tears slipping down his face. He sat there for a few minutes. Hating himself, pitying himself. After sucking in a few breaths, Draco sat up and looked around, his vision blurred. His cheeks stained red, lips puffy, and chest heaving up and down rapidly.

He laid back on his bed and unbuttoned his pants, tugging them off and onto the floor. He shifted so he could lay under his blankets, only wearing his boxers. He wanted to sleep. Wanted nothing more than to sleep, but karma wouldn't let him, instead, he was forced to stay up and listen to the voices in his head that taunted him most nights. This night especially terrible.

The next day, Draco got up, dressed for work, skipped breakfast and was out the door work. Locking his boring house in this boring muggle neighborhood. Hoping in his muggle car and driving to his muggle job. He sometimes wished he was born a muggle. Life would be so much easier, but then again, the most powerful weapon muggles have to defend themselves with is a gun, and most don't use it for defense.

Be spent his boring time teaching those boring kids and slugging around the elementary school at lunch. After work he went home, threw his keys on the side table and went to the fridge to finally get some food. Settling on crackers and tuna, he sat down in his boring white living room, and ate. Looking around at all the art he had hanging around the wall. All the glass pieces scattered around in weird looking sculptures.

He's been thinking all day about his next move. He was going to stay away from Daphne and pray that Lucia forgot about him, forgot that he was her father, but alas, those damn voices.

Draco got up, putting his plate in the sink and grabbed his keys, heading out to Daphne's house again. It was a self awkward drive, and he almost turned around four times, but it was too late when he was pulling down her street, parking in front of her house. He sat in his car, looking straight ahead. What was he doing? He was Draco Malfoy, death eater. Why was he scared? Daphne was some short little girl. What could she do.

Getting out of his car, he made his way up to the door, wiping his sweaty palms on his pant leg. Now that he thought about it, Daphne may have been a small girl, but there was a lot that she could do draco, and most didn't even have to be done with a wand.

He waited there patiently, until the door opened and there stood, Daphne with a grim expression married to her face. “I came here to talk. Please, i wanted to apologize” he paused for a moment, using his hands as he talked. “again” he wiped his palms again. Why is it so hot?

“look, I know what happened last night was terrible, but I want you to know that I don't know what got into me, trust me. The last thing I wanted was to hurt you. You don't have to believe me, you don't have to do anything, but I will only ask, if you will let me in so we can talk about this” he stopped talking, looking at her with puppy eyes. “c'mon, be the bigger person” he added, hoping that that would break her into letting him in.

((OOC: I was training for a job that literally sucked up 12 hours a day. I'm not there anymore lol)

Daphne listened to Draco's excuses, or reasoning. Either way she really did not want to listen to him. Be the bigger person, she wanted to explain to him that he had the opportunity to be the bigger person barely twelve hours previously. There was a chance that their relationship was well on the mend. He had lost his temper. A fun night turned dark so quickly. The bath she had soaked in had eased a lot of the pain but she could still remember.

Instead of acting on impulse, she moved aside to let him move passed her. She closed the door behind them but remained by the door crossing her arms across her chest. "I don't want an apology Draco." she told him, "Honestly, I don't want anything from you." she added as she stepped towards the living room only to gather whatever paperwork she had lying out and carried it to the kitchen.

Lucia was laying inside a small, pop-up pink tent as cartoons continued on the screen. She was sleeping in the fetal position facing the screen with her hands wrapped around a doll that had seen better days. The poor piece of plastic was covered in marker, nail polish, makeup. Daphne had made the mistake of cleaning it once and Lucia almost had a heart attack. Never again.

"Come in the kitchen." she told Draco. She laid the papers on the wooden tabletop before moving towards the fridge to grab herself something to drink, "I have to admit, I would prefer if last night stayed there."

Oh jeez, that must have sucked. I'm sorry, haha//

Draco was surprised that Daphne had moved aside and let him into her home again. He knew that night was a terrible decision and he wanted nothing more than to get on his hands and knees and beg her for forgiveness, but he decided against it once she said she didn't want an apology. He watched her as wondered deeper into the home and picked up stray paper, her back staying to him. He looked around the unfamiliar familiar home, he followed her to the kitchen, his eyes darting around for his daughter.

He stood there, across the table from her and stared down at her. He didn't know what to say, and he knew that words weren't going to get him out of this. Daphne was a strong woman, not some bimbo. She couldn't and wouldn't be willed over by empty promises and sweet words. He rested the palm of his hand on the wood table, the other hung loosely at his side. His eyes scanned around every thing besides Daphne. After what felt like several long drawn out minutes Draco looked up at his ex lover. The woman who still held his heart. Sorrow filled his eyes, but he knew better than to apologies to her. That a the last thing she wanted.

“Daphne….” His voice was soft. He stopped himself, huffing in a deep breath, his palmed out hand turned into a light fist as it softly knocked on the table. Trying to buy himself time. “i..” He stopped talking again. He dropped his head, his blonde hair falling a little. He lifted his balled up hand to his face, unballing it and rubbing his face, starting from his forehead than down to his chin. He shook his head, his eyes still on his shoes. After a few short moments he looked back up at her. “I know you don't want to hear it, but i am sorry about what happened” he sighed, his hands going to his hips as he stepped away from where he stood, turning his back to her as he tried to think of what to say, knowing that whatever came out of his mouth would have to be good and calculated.

He turned back and looked at her, his face still full of sorrow. “ I don't know what had gotten into me that night. It was the perfect day. The best I've had in years. I know...I know what I did can never be forgiven and I know that once I'm done talking you're going to kick me out and I may never see you or Lucia ever again-” his voice strained at that last part. His eyes started to water, he could feel the tingling in his nose, but he fought against crying in front of her. This was his fault. He had no reason to cry. “but I need you to know-” he choked up, his voice cracking. He was losing himself. He put his hand up, giving her a finger to tell him that he needed a minute.

Licking his dry lips, he took a deep shaky breath and exhaled. “I need you to know, that i love you.” He shook his head gently. “You can believe me or not, I don't care, you just have to that I do and I always have loved you. For all six years, I have loved you, and yes I was angry bit after some years I figured out it was indeed my fault. You left because of me, because I didn't tell you about Parkinson. You left because I didn't want to listen to your reasoning. And I became the person I am today because of me. Not because of you” he looked down, holding his breath in, once again trying to hold back tears, even if he was failing. His face was a soft red, his metallic eyes glazed over with wetness. “You only tried to make me better, and I got in the way of myself. I have this entire time.” He let a chuckle out as he shook his head again. “that night I was going to try and redeem myself. That night I was supposed to show you rather than tell you how much I have missed you and loved you and once again...I got in my own way. I let anger from years ago that I thought I had already felt with get in my way and because of that I hurt you, and I am beyond sorry.” He inhaled a deep breath. His voice was weak, cracking, and just above a whisper. “You can hate me if you want. You can never forgive me...I'll understand. I'll understand if you never want to see me again, and of you wish I'll stay away from Lucia. Just, as long as you know that I am sorry, and I do still love you” he sniffed a little and wiped his tear stained face with the back of his hand. He broke the eye contact and looked down to the floor. “that's all I needed to say….So I guess” his voice was rather close to being back to normal. “I guess I'll get going. Thank you for letting me in” he turned on his heel was head headed towards the front door.

He had said what he needed to say and he had broken down his walls again, the same way he had when he was in school with her. Once again she was the only person who could see that side of him. He didn't mean to come over and tell her all of that, and he had no idea if that helped him or hurt him, but either way, he said it. It was over, there was no turning back what he had said.

This was what Daphne had wanted to avoid. Though the physical pain had subsided, the hurt she felt in her chest was still very clear. He explained how last night was meant to a redeeming one, it was one for her as well. She had left England, she had kept his child away from him. She had no intention of continuing that cycle. Lucia was still very young but she would remember the admission that Draco was her father. She could only just stare at him when he admitted that he had, in fact, loved her. Tears were threatening to escape the corners of her eyes; her lower lips quivered as she tried to hold back the surge of emotion.

She had remained silent just taking in what he was saying. Draco turned on his heel to head for the door. "Draco, stop." she called after him as she followed him. Holding him by his forearm she put her arms around him. She didn't mean to appear so needy, but she needed to have some kind of contact with him, "You don't have to leave right now. You could at least wait until Lucia wakes up, she'd love to see you." she let him go. Maybe they just needed to talk everything through. Maybe whatever they had could be salvaged and they could become a family.

Daphne took Draco by his hands and guided him back into the kitchen, Lucia was not as polite and sweet if she were to wake up too early from her nap. "Draco," Daphne started, "I don't want to stop you from seeing Lucia. Ever again." she explained, "And maybe," she paused struggling to find the words, "We could work on us. I'm not the same person I was when we went to school. I know you're not. But we could make this work if you wanted."

Draco held down the tears as he made his way to the door. Each millisecond felt like one hundred years. His feet felt like lead, even if he could move them properly. His heart was wrenching. He could physically feel the emotional pain. The pain that he would let out once he was in the safety of his car. Then, and only then would he release the dam that was swelling up behind his eyes.

He had meant everything that he had said to her. Every last word was as true as his blood. He has loved her since she left. He still at this moment as he walks away from her still loves her. If she wished to never be seen by him again, he would leave her and it would be how it was just a few weeks ago. Draco would give up his own happiness of seeing his beautiful daughter is Daphne has wished. He knew that if young Lucia had any questions, Daphne could come up with some excuse, and if some day when she was an adult and she wanted to come looking for him. He would want for her, and try to explain to the best of his ability as of why he had to leave her at the age of five.

He had just reached out of the kitchen when he heard Daphne urgently call him to stop, urgent but soft. Just like her. Draco stopped in his tracks. So scared to turn around and look at her. He blinked harshly, letting the uncalled tears fall down his cheeks. He stood in time and space. His back turned to her. Than he felt her hand on his forearm. Why must she drag this on? Can't he leave and go drink his sorrows away?

His mind scattered into a million pieces when he felt small arms around him. Which was his first emotion, than...He couldn't even explain it. All he could comprehend was his arms wrapping around her in a tight hug. He hurried his face into the crook of her shoulder as he let silent tears stroll down his face. She still smelled the same. Like his personal heaven. He was saddened when she pulled back, but he knew not to push his luck. Smiling at her when she invited him to stay so he could see his daughter. This was an outcome he wasn't prepared for.

He gave her a gently smile, following her back into the kitchen. His hand gently in hers. He stared at the two ligaments, his small smile never leaving his face.

This could be the chance he needed and wanted. Maybe he could redeem himself. He could take things slow. Get to know eachother again. They could fall in love all over again, but instead of the love being connected to the past it would be connected to this current time.

He looked up from their hands when she spoke about him not being able to see Lucia. This made him even more happy. But what shot him over the edge was her saying that she would like to try again. Work on them. As if she had read his mind and thoughts that he had held moments ago.

His steel grey eyes traveled around her icy blue eyes, searching to make sure that he wasn't hearing things, but her eyes told him that he was sane. All draco could do was wrap his arms tightly around Daphne and pull her into a hug. He needed to feel her in some way and simple hand holding wasn't enough. “of course I would” he said gently, burying his face into the crook of her neck again. Closing his eyes, just enjoying being able to have another chance at loving her and making things right. To make them a family. “I would want nothing more.” He leaned back, looking at her. “though I think we should take things slow...Maybe go on a few dates, get to know each other again. Catch up?” His voice was still calm, relaxing, low, trying to talk quietly for the sake of Lucia.

(I'm typing with one hand right now, so please forgive the length DX)

Was it a stupid decision on her part to try to make things work with Draco? Especially after the beating she had endure the previous night. Part of her wanted nothing to do with the man she once loved, even to go as far as not allowing Lucia to see him either. But the other part of Daphne just wanted to make amends so they could become a family. Was that wrong of her? He had done nothing to hurt Lucia, Daphne doubted he would. So what right did she have to try to take her away again? She had none.

She nodded at his suggestion, her blonde locks falling from behind her ear. He even smelled different, she noted as he held her so close. Masculine with a hint of soothing Sandalwood. She inhaled deeply as she put her arms around the small of his back. She hadn't realized how long it had been since she last felt the affection of a man. She didn't realize how much she missed it. Lucia kept her so busy as did her work, she had forgotten what it felt like.

"Draco," she said breaking the embrace to look at his steel gray eyes with her sky-blue ones, "Why don't you go sit in the living room, you can change the channel," Lucia who was tucked safely in a small pop up, princess tent was watching some cartoons that lulled her to sleep, "I have a gown I have to alter for a pageant Lucia has coming up."

(I don't know what else to have them do, until they go on a date.)

Draco was lucky to have yet another chance, he would try his hardest to not harm her again, rather be physically or mentally. He had no idea why he keeps coming back to her, all he seems to do is ruin her life little by little. He was toxic, and more like his father than he liked to admit. All Draco wanted was for things to back to how they were years ago when they were in school and he was one of her only friends. He knew what the people were saying and he knew what she was doing to his image, but he couldn't pry himself away from her. She was his heaven. He put all of himself into her. She knew all there was to know about Draco Malfoy. She knew his dreams, fears, weaknesses, strengths. She saw him at her lowest of lows and highest of highs, and no matter what he did she always seemed to love him.

He felt cold as she pulled back and asked if he would go into the living room, that he could watch the telly. Draco just nodded, planting another kiss onto her forehead. dragging his arms across her body as he walked away from her, wanting to feel her for as long as he could. once she was out of his reach, his arms dropped to his side and he made his way to her living room, sitting down on the couch. Finding what he thought was the TV remote, he flipped through the channels. Draco has little knowledge pf Muggle things, only seeing a Television a few times in his life. he has never slipped through the channels and was able to pick something he liked.

Draco would find something and than get bored with it in a few minutes, than he was back on the hunt trying to find something else that he liked. Finally finding a show that he liked rather much, he sat down the remote and leaned back watching a show called 'Law and Order'. The show was confusing at first, but once he knew the names of the people on the screen, he started to get into it. Understanding why most Muggles had multiple of these fascinating things in their homes. He would have to buy one of these for himself, maybe put it in his bedroom, he could see himself now, laying in his large bed, the room dark, the only glow was from the light of the telly as it played shows.

as the days went by, he had spent most of his time while he was off work and Daphne was home at her house. He spent many hours playing with his daughter and trying to redeem himself towards the only person he knew true love from. so far he was doing great. He had done nothing harmful towards anyone. He had kept his promise and was taking things slow, trying to get to know her all over again. Draco told her about what happened when he became a DE. Explaining that he was in a very dark time, and he felt that being with the DE's is what he needed, the only thing that could help him. of course, Draco was welcomed happily and proudly. His dark might and thoughts letting him do his job well. He let out a lot of anger that has been building up since she left, but after a while, he began to feel bad. the anger he had built up was almost gone and he was feeling guilt. he felt guilt for the souls he stole, the choices he had made and of course, letting Daphne down. Remembering that he never wanted to become someone so evil and to run with that crowd like that. That he wanted to become an Auror or a Healer. That he felt that he didn't have a choice, but Daphne let him know that he had a choice about anything he wanted or didn't want to do.

He held sex back, only giving her small innocent kisses, as if they were crushes, as if they didn't have a past and as if he hadn't taken her virginity years ago. He told her he wanted to restart and thats what he was going to do. Of course he hated it, he had the love of his life and the mother of his child around him daily, and he wanted nothing more than to take her in ways that he hadn't done with a woman in years.

Two weeks later from the day he came back and they decided that they would restart, he woke up, went to work, and drove to Daphne's right when he got out. Pulling in her driveway, not having to lock his car, for the nearest person was almost a mile away, he jumped out of his car. His hair tussled around, giving him a rustic and edgy look. He hadn't shaved in a few days, because normally when he goes home later in the night, he would change his clothes, sometimes showered, and than headed to bed. He would have used magic to get rid of the dark blonde stubble that was lining his lower face and hiding his defined jaw, Magic just wasn't as good as a razor, and would be growing back within hours. He grabbed his coffee and waltzed up to her porch, knocking softly at her door.
