    "Space. The Final Frontier..."

Alright! Hi-hello to everyone! I scanned, but missed to see a (recent or active) request on Star Trek RP.
I think it is such an Open Space (see what I did there? :imp: ) of ideas.

Would anyone be in on starting something from the Star Trek Universe? I need a whole crew!

    Anyone aboard? :X3:

Did you have an era in mind for this? Were you wanting to do OC's in the Star Trek universe?

Oh, we can figure that out together. I loved the last three movies, and I recently watched the Disyovery series. I think it might be easier to go OC here, or what say you? Maybe combine or go parallel?

I think OC is definitely the way to go.

I know some people didn’t like it, but I was an Enterprise fan. I liked the idea of being out in deep space all on their own with their “primitive” technology.

I haven't seen Enterprise. I loved the three newest movies and I've watched the Discovery series. Are you familiar with those? Though, since we' re going OS it doesn' t really matter, does it? We have a ship and the space and a thurst for adventure. :imp:

Hmmm! I would love to do this, but I'm getting over some kind of bug right now. So I'd like to enter my name on the assumption that this group role play will take some time to develop. And hopefully, by the time it does get started, I'll be feeling better.

Question 1: Though this is intended to be OC, is there any reason someone couldn't use re-named face claims from one of the original Star Trek series, preferably someone not as well known. You did say you haven't seen Enterprise, so T'Pol, but with a different name, might work? Though to be honest, I'm also considering using Jolene Blalock, not as T'Pol, but as an alien with images of her from Legend of the Seeker.

Question 2: How many characters are we allowed? My second character would be Casper Van Dien as security officer.

Hey, BoundObsession! Glad you're interested! I'm very excited about this.

About your questions, I really wouldn't mind you RPing someone from the show, since, yeah, for me not having seen the Enterprise series, she'll be new for me. Can't answer for iMan though. :)

And as for how many characters? Well, that is personal. I'd say as many as you want, but as few as possible? So that you could concentrate on all of them and not get too overwhelmed? I will only do one. Maybe a few fillers for of random someones if maybe the occasion calls for it.. yeah.. did that make sense?

Who am I to impede upon someone’s creativity. Unless you just suck at storytelling, feel free to be who you want to be.

Yes, love the new movies! I think they did a great job on them.

So, if we are going to do a group role-play, I say we not dally too much. These things tend to fizzle out fast with too much planning. I say we select a general setting and time frame, what our main characters do on the ship, and release the mooring clamps.

    Agreed!

As for the setting, maybe we take the movies to be the vocal point? I'm thinking, maybe we take from them and lead from there. Maybe the USS Franklin they found grounded had some info in the database that we'll lead on?

Also, how much romance and/or smut do you feel comfortable with? If we'll have some, I want to be someone in a thing with the cap or the first officer. I have a thing for guys in high ranking positions  I'm thinking, maybe chief of security or such...

PS I'm already so excited! :D

Whatever smut happens in space, stays in space. Besides, it’s cold out there. As long as it’s not too outlandish for the plot (think alien harem) what you do on your off time is up to you. :sneaky:

I think @BoundObsession has a Security Chief in mind. I can do Captain, unless someone else is eager for it.

I like the idea of a possible deep space mission based upon information from the previous films.

    Alright! I like that! (y)

Oh, the Sec Chief was just an idea, I just don't want to be in a position directly under the Captains Command. I mean, we all are, but... you know what I mean.. I'm thinking the Tech girl then. One very skilled in combat too so she'll go on missions. Like... Jayla-ish.

I have this interesting idea that could put you not directly under the captains command. I was thinking that research into the events that occurred in the third movie revealed tales from civilizations of a rift in space. The stories go that “Monsters” came from the rift and destroyed the civilizations around them. We are sent to investigate, because of the possible threat to the Federation.

Perhaps you could be attached to the ship as an intelligence operative? You could have all of your abilities and you would be directly involved in everything without being under the captain. That would probably cause my character some ire as well.

I was thinking that the closer we come to the rift, strange things start happening. Nightmares, visions of apparitions, crew members going crazy, etc. Sort of like a science fiction horror story.

Oooh, yes, I'm liking this! And the liaison sounds like solid plan. We'll see later on how she can be a part of the crew for good, if we get to it.

I'm still feeling a bit queasy and wish we had a few more role players, but whenever you want to start, I'll try to keep up.

Before I talk about my female character, what is everyone's stance on magic or supernatural powers? My female character could be humanoid with magical powers or a cyborg/android with advanced technology capable of replicating powers that might seem magical.

My female character is not going to be in the story initially. That's because she's chained up on a deserted planet awaiting rescue by your crew. But she has the power to generate electricity, making her a power source that the Federation starship will detect once they get in range. Plus, they'll detect a life-form and the traces of a civilization upon the planet and will want to investigate. Whether the Spider Queen will end up being a force for good or evil, I haven't decided yet. :p

In the meantime, I'll see about doing face claims for her and the security officer (did you want him to be the chief?). Of course, I'll need an answer to the question of magic versus technology before I complete her face claim.

@BoundObsession The Star Trek universe contains a lot of lifeforms with abilities that could be easily categorized as supernatural. I wouldn’t have an immediate rejection towards such a character, but would ask that you temper their abilities so they are not over powered.

It is @Azariah ’s thread though, and ultimately up to her.

Oh, I don't mind some superpowers. But yes, as iMan pointed out, nothing overpowering, it'd throw off the balance of the whole thing. Something small to sometimes help us with is good for me. :)

Also, maybe we could plot a plan on how to start up with? There are 3 of us and that's a decent number, I think, no?

So, maybe a meeting at the Yorktown station, meeting everyone and such?

Could you use a forth? You could use a cunning engineer on this sort of gallivanting through nebulae thing. If your still taking folks... here's my character idea.

    Name: Enri L Hazard,
    Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Bio: Third in his class at the Academy, an accomplished pianist, and exemplary officer. Hailing from New Africa, and second son of Captain Jean Hazard who died in the Dominion War, Hazard has a habit of taking wild risks and demanding too much of himself. Secretly addicted to bio-mimetic neural enhancers developed from Borg technology, which allows him extensively lucid dreaming which he uses to come up with new ideas.
