The kyuubi's tails gave a single flick of irritation, betraying his own emotions. "Dont claim to not trust me because I spoke differently of my connection to the soul inside you. Your trust in me was already lost the moment you saw me. I know not if it was because I was a stranger or if you knew I was a kyuubi." His golden gaze then drifted to the small form of kaori's fairy companion. "...I have heard much of the mistrust between humans and beastfolk to the west...but did not think it was so bad." letting out a sigh he rose up, his equipment klinking gently. "I can tell earning your trust will not be a easy endeavor, but is as fine as a worms silk when it comes to breaking. You will have to forgive me but I will be even less safe travelling around you as you may misinterpret an action of mine and react in violence. So unless there is something you can do where we can come to an arrangement...then I am not certain as to how this might work."

Valencar merely grunted at her words before turning about. "I am ready. The map is missing however...so..." A rare smirk slipped over his features. "you had best find a way to work out something with your new friend...the misty woods to the east are well known for getting others lost."

Kaori looked between Valencar and the Kyuubi and cursed in her mother tongue, glad her father or sister was not around to hear it. Of course Valencar could not find the map. And how convenient the Kyuubi from the East shows up just as they are to leave for the very same destination he is birthed. Her eyes flashed red on a growl, making her shake her head and rub at her temples at the irritating throbbing headache that suddenly took up residence behind her eyes, shifting in a very vulpine way before it was gone again.

Taking a deep breath she opened her eyes to reveal clear amber staring at the Kyuubi across from her, a smirk painting her lips. "Then we are at an impasse I suppose, because I do not trust you, and will not trust you on your word. And I cannot guarantee that I will not attack you for any reason. Just ask Valencar," she said, gesturing to the big brute. "I only just about trust this muscle headed imbecile as it is, that is after over three months in his home, and I still attack him from time to time. In fact with this curse festering inside me I am liable to attack anyone or anything, for differing reasons, especially the more this," she flashed him the fading rune etched to her skin, "disappears. And once it does I am going to have an extremely hard time holding many lucid conversations that do not end in blood shed or soul devouring."

Kaori hitched up her satchel and made her way to the door, opening it before turning to look back at the Kyuubi. "So you can either take your chances, show us the way to our intended destination, not to your father the Guardian, where I can slow this curse down, help us retrieve my life fire and then give you her soul back, where upon you can return home bearing good news. Or you can leave now, return home empty handed with no promise of a soul, and possibly experience the end of the Valley as we know it if I do no succeed, where you will no longer have time to worry about her soul, but only worry about your own. That is if you would like to stay alive and sane." She turned and walked out the door, leaving it open for Valencar and the rest to follow. "Your choice!" She called over her shoulder. "I am sure we can procure another map along the way, Valencar. No time to waste." Leaving the Kyuubi to make his decision.

Astarot gazed down at her with those firey orbs. He studied her retreating form for a moment before stretching his head up towards the sky and letting out a roar that echoed throughout the forest. He then spread his great wings and lifted from the ground. Circling the clearing twice He continued to let out echoing roars, declaring his territory before swooping down and Snatching up noxaura in his front claws! Knowing full well how it irked her. But the dragon was having none of it, His chat with her had already made him realize there was something he needed to do now...and he was certain by the end of the day she would be cursing him in all he known languages.

    -------------------------------------------------------

Valencar let out a grunt at Kaori's words, but appeared in no rush all the same. "Aye...She is a spitfire and has had her way with me often enough." He spoke in his deep tones, purposefully phrasing his words to be misconcieved.
The kyuubi smirked at Valencar's words then shook his head. Letting a small breath fall from his lips he opened his mouth to speak when a loud roar sounded out, silencing not just himself but everyone in the village. Even from this distance away the sound of heavy wings beating the air were clear, and for those outside a distinct dark shape could be seen approaching the village from the forest.

Astarot had spotted the village from afar, and knew Noxaura needed real blood and food, not just small animals and vermin. Swooping down he was quick to snatch a running bison up in his jaws, then land directly in the village center! His massive form took up much space as he began to feed, ignoring the terrified cries of the beastfolk and humans that fled his figure and the figure of the barbarian looking woman on his back. Soon those with the courage to do so brought arms to bear against the dragon and his rider, moving to surround the two.
Yet even after this Astarot did not turn his attention to the spears and bows drawn on him and his master. And why should he worry? there were about twenty defenders in total, all of which were as reluctant to interrupt his bison feast as they were to attack Noxaura. The beastfolk here knew of an old green dragon as the guardian, not this black and red half demon.

Noxaura was forced to cover her highly sensitive ears, feeling the vibrations of her dragons roar right down to her bones, watching what little life there was in this forest flee in fear of a greater predator. With a heavy sigh she watched him take to the air, shaking her head as she continued on, just grateful her eardrums hadn't burst whilst he was busy making his claim and new authority clear.

That was until he snatched her up with little care and practically slung her onto his back. With no other option but to cling on for the ride and activate certain wards, she watched, wondering where on earth he was taking her this time.

Except this ride was exceptionally short, and only moments later were they landing in the middle of a small village, with thankfully very minimal destruction if you didn't count the bison Astarot decided would be a descent snack.

    --------------------------

Kaori turned to look for Valencar and call to hurry him along, when every hair on her body stood on end with the spine chilling roar that ripped through the air. Her satchel fell to the ground as she spun round to spot the ominous shadow approaching with speed. The Western Guardian. She didn't think, she just ran, weapon at the ready. "EVERYONE GET INSIDE NOW!" She ordered the villagers and beast folk alike. This couldn't be happening, the Northern Guardian would never allow that putrid, beastly Western Guardian to hunt in his part of the valley, especially to attack villages such as this. There was certain laws the Guardians followed. "WARRIORS TO ME!" Within moments the warriors of her clan surrounded her. "I want half of you to help the villagers, elders and children to get inside and find shelter as best as possible." Though she knew that given the Western Guardian's vicious ways and appetite, no where was safe if they were on the war path. But she didn't have any time to evacuate people a safer distance. "The other half follow me, we have to delay and defend as best we can for anyone to have a chance to-" The dragon flew overhead, watching as it landed in the centre, creating a blast of wind that took dust, dirt and plants with it.

"Go, GO!" Kaori urged, wasting no time as she raced towards the dragon. Within moments they had surrounded the dragon, weapons at the ready to defend to the death.

She didn't know what she was looking at, but that was not the Western Guardian she saw in her nightmares, it was not the dragon that had eaten her brother alive. What was going on?

    -------------------------

"I swear you will be the death of me at this rate." She stood up, spying the warm welcome waiting down below. "Astarot what did we discuss about being inconspicuous..." She activated the gravitational spell she had used earlier, except this time she used it against Astarot. Immediately the gravity around his snout became ten times as heavy as his own head, essentially slamming his head into the ground and buckling the earth deeply, halting his destructive chomping. Apparently she needed to teach this Elder a few basic things in his young age before he got them both chained to the King until their dying day.

Sliding down his nose, she calmly stepped off his snout into the circle of spears and arrows that awaited. She had not seen such healthy and predatory beast-folk as these. Usually the kingdom held beast-folk as whores, entertainment, or servants. Slaves. And most tended to be mice, deer, birds, rabbits and the occasional broken wolf or cats at best.

You must learn manners Astarot. Landing in a village such as this for which you then start demolishing their farm animals which are not yours, and scaring their people, will only be taken as hostile. Your attempt at gaining these so called allies and friends you keep bellowing of is atrocious... She thought to him. "Look at this mess you have put us in," she murmured, breaking the gravitational spell on Astartot. "I do not have time to be dealing with such trifles, dragon."

"You trespass on the Northern Guardian's territory. State your business, or leave!" Kaori shouted, eyeing the dragon and the human, waiting for the slightest twitch of a threat. Where was the Northern Guardian?

Noxaura eyed the kistune before her that was clearly the leader of these warrior. Except...cocking her head to the side, this kitsune was something else, able to sense the dense and dark magic within. Taking a step forward she was was met with a circle of spears at her throat, sighing heavily.

"I said state your business foreigner!" Kaori snarled, tails flicking about in threat.

"Peace beast, we have no quarrel with you or your people." Sensing the rise in dark energy from the fox. "And in all honesty it is not my business to tell kitsune. Ask the dragon," Noxaura told her, glancing to Astarot. "You had best state your business for being here Astarot." And I suggest you shift to a less hostile and damaging size whilst you do so, Noxaura thought to Astarot.

Kaori looked from the human to the dragon unsure of their relationship. "Fine. State your business, dragon."

"Be careful kitsune," Noxaura warned, remaining still for the sake of putting these folk at ease.

Astarot shook his head and worked his bloody jaw before he turned and stared down at his rider with those golden eyes. A moment passed and Astarot let out a smokey breath, blowing noxaura's hair about and obscuring her briefly in the black smoke before his great head lifted high as he spread his wings, letting out a long deep hiss of warning as he swelled up. He then spoke, his voice sounding out and echoing in the minds of those present. "YOUR GUARDIAN IS DEAD." He spoke bluntly in those booming tones. "THE WESTERN GUARDIAN FOUGHT HER AND SLEW HER. HER BONES LIE ALONGSIDE THE BONES OF YOUR KIN. I COULD NOT EVEN FIND THE REMAINS OF YOUR VILLAGE WHEN I TOOK TO THE SKIES, BEAST FOLK. ALL WHO STAYED BEHIND NOW REST IN HER BELLY OR THE FOREST." Letting out a deep growl he exposed his sharp teeth, then dipped his head down suddenly! snatching up the remains of the bison he gulped it down like a snack before licking his chops and snaking his head down to Kaori's form, his nose all but touching her as he let out a proud growl. "BUT I FOUND HER...SKULKING ABOUT AS SHE LICKED HER WOUNDS. SHE FOUGHT ME AND LOST, AND NOW I AM THE GUARDIAN OF THE NORTH AND THE WEST!"

Noxaura gave a little cough at the soot that coated her, knowing it was her dragons version of revenge for the gravity spell when he knew she couldn't move for the sake of the villagers well being.

Kaori and her warriors all took a step back as the giant beast of a dragon reared up, weapons now aimed at the dragon instead. A human they could deal with. A dragon they could not.

But the news that spewed from the dragons mouth shocked them all. The Northern Guardian was dead and the Western Guardian had killed them. For years upon years the Northern Guardian was their only saviour against the Western Guardians greed and wrath. Worst of all their brethren, the neighbouring clan had been devoured. It explained why some had come to the village in search of refuge, but only a bare few, and even then they refused to talk through their shock, fear and pain, now she knew why.

The most shocking news of all was now they had a new Guardian of both West and North. Kaori's eyes flashed red in anger and sorrow. But what worried her was this new Guardian and his intentions towards not only the valley but the village. Was he like the Western Guardian in his wrath and greed, or would he become their new protector like the Northern.

It did not escape Noxaura's notice at the sudden spike in power that came from the fox. Yet for now she let it go, it was not her problem.

Kaori and those around her, began to kneel before the new Guardian. Because there was nothing else they could do except respect his power, and hope that they could gain his favour and protection for the sake of the village. "We apologise new Guardian of the West and North, we did not know and were only seeking to protect the people of this village. We hope that you can accept our apology and will continue to lend us your powers of protection just as the Northern Guardian did." Because soon the village may need it if she did not get her fire back in time.

"Although, I am curious Guardian, why come directly to our little village. No Guardian has ever done so before lest we were under immediate attack and-"

"Seeing as we understand each other now, I shall explain further," Noxaura said, looking to Astarot. Behave, do not eat anything unless given permission or offered, and do not move lest you destroy something irreplaceable. Looking to Kaori she said, "stand."

Gripping her weapon to near breaking point, Kaori stood, wanting to wrap her hands around this insolent humans neck. But she knew that this Guardian seemed to like this human so knew it would be a bad idea to do anything against her.

Noxaura could sense that spike of power again, eyes narrowing. "We are not here to destroy your village, we are here to gather supplies, weaponry, and food."

Kaori looked at the human in disbelief. Was she insane? "I apologise but we only have just enough food to feed the village as it is." Less now the dragon had eaten at least five big bison in one go. "We do not have enough to offer you Guardian and feed ourselves..." Kaori looked to Noxaura. "As for weapons... we have a blacksmith who can either create a weapon of your choice or we have weapons already made that your can choose from. And as for supplies, it depends on what your need," she told her.

Noxaura turned to Astarot and said, "You had best use this time to find some bigger game to hunt, whilst I gather supplies and weapons," she told him. "And if and when you come back, try to do so inconspicuously this time." Turning back to face Kaori she said, "lead the way to this blacksmith of yours."

This was terrible. She had to leave and this human was demanding she take her to Valencar. This was going to set her back dangerously. She only had so much time left to do this journey. Unable to do anything else but comply with the dragon watching them, Kaori said, "of course," through gritted teeth. They all took another bow to the Guardian before Kaori began leading the human back to Valencar's home. The warriors dispersed to inform the rest of the village of the situation.

After a moment Kaori entered the home, looking like she was about ready to rip someone apart. "Valencar, your skills are possibly needed for the new Guardian's human companion."

Noxaura stepped inside. "I am in need of weapons, what do you have blacksmith?" She did not bother to correct the beast-kin, nor did she think it a bad idea to double her wards and be extra alert, given the hostile energy coming off in waves from the kitsune, the dark energy leaking from the Kyuubi or the heavy magic coming from the large man the fox was addressing.

As soon as she stepped inside Valencar was ready for her. For once he was prepared to leave, and it seemed like at long last they were all prepared to leave.
Then...the dragon and her rider came. Another delay. and now, they desired to speak with him for equipment.

Valencar turned his dark gaze over to the women, studying her briefly with those dark eyes of his. After a few moments he gave a grunt and turned away. "You look to be in need of much more than just a weapon." he stated bluntly as he gathered up more rations. "And how do you intend to pay for such? and the six bison taken from my herd?"

As if on que Astarot's great form swooped down outside the building and landed down by two bisons, taking one in his jaws and pinning the other under his right foreclaw. Wetly he began crunching down on the beast, knowing full well the bill was growing.

From nearby Echo and Chunaku watched the stranger from the kitchen. Though while Chunaku kept a good room away from her echo flew forth, flying around her head as he got a better look at the stranger and sate his curiousity.

Noxaura looked to Valencar and nodded. "Correct, but what I need from you right now is weapons. The rest I can gather from others. If you cannot provide me with weapons, then say so now. I will find someone else. As for payment-" On cue Astarot interrupted the conversation as conspicuously as possibly and ratcheted their bill even higher, by adding another two bison to the six already eaten. "Excuse me for a moment..." Noxaura said, turning to face Astarot. She activated the gravity spell again over his snout so he couldn't eat anything else, shaking her head. How was that inconspicuous? I specifically told you to go hunting for bigger game elsewhere, not eat the village farm animals. For now you can stay put until I release you from the spell lest you cause me more trifles to deal with dragon.

Turning back to the strange gathering of people she was met with a fae in her face. Casually she plucked Echo from the air by his clothing. "Strange... I have never gotten to see a fae this close up before," she murmured, eyeing the little ice fae as if she wanted to dissect him, "never had the chance... so fragile... yet-" Ai was quick to pull Echo from her fingers, darting over to hide behind Kaori's ear. This human screamed danger.

It didn't escape Kaori's notice that this human was something else, but what she wasn't sure. She would have said mage, possibly from the human kingdom, except she moved far too fast for a human and could somehow control the dragon. Correction Guardian. She didn't trust this so called human. "I would suggest you do not do that again lest you wish to lose some fingers to frost bite," Kaori warned.

Noxaura did not care. She just wanted weapons and supplies. The problem was indeed payment. Astarot had burned anything valuable she could trade right off her body, and the horde contained nothing but bones, old clothes and rusted weapons. "Anyway as for payment, I do not have anything and I cannot bring your dead bison back. However, I can offer my skills. Anything within my power of course and I can get your new Guardian to give his oath of protection if that is what you wish," she told them. Falling back on old tricks of the trade. It was how she'd gained her tools and pawns under the King's watchful eye, by offering her services or putting them in debt to her. "Is that sufficient payment?"

Astarot blinked as his snout was smashed to the ground! The young dragon was quick to growl and struggle about, but was unable to move his head. For awhile he was quiet, his great eyes watching her as she spoke to the companions inside. Granted he had eaten the last two simply because he could, and not from hunger itself. An annoyed noxaura was a cute noxaura, and he knew she had been without playful banter since she was a child.

Valencar was quiet as he watched her pluck the quick little fae, though his eyes were far more focused on Kaori's form than the strangers. "Your skills." He stated before he turned his gaze to focus on her and not kaori. "What skills might those be?" he inquired as he let the large pack on his back fall to the ground with a thud, as if adding further evidence to the fact that it looked like kaori was going nowhere today. "A dragon does not take common folk as riders...he takes them as prey or whores when he or she desires it. Royalty and kings are little different...One must be beyond such....so again ill ask...what are you?" He then turned his eyes to kaori and paused. "...As for skills, I will accept if the invitation extends to the dragon as well."

Noxaura tilted her head to the side as she eyed the human giant, ladened with strong magic. Perceptive. "Then think of me as 'beyond such'. I can tell you I am certainly not human." Glancing over her shoulder to Astarot she sighed. "As for the dragon, you will have to ask your new North and Western Guardian yourself. He is a very ... stubborn and bone headed being. I cannot speak for him." You had best make yourself useful dragon whilst you are here. Your services may be needed if I am to get supplies and weaponry seeing you have burnt everything I could possibly trade.

"As for skills, you should understand by now that I am able to use magic, especially considering the fact I have used it against the dragon. I am an expert in both magic and weaponry. So as long as you ask something of me which is within my power to do, I will do whatever you ask for within reason that you feel is equal to the payment of the weapons," she told them.

Kaori looked to Valencar with a curious yet dangerous gaze, wondering what he thinking of asking for a Guardian's services. They had no right.

Valencar studied Noxaura for a time, taking in her form and her words as she spoke them. His eyes however were drawn to the window as a loud slapping sound filled the air following Noxaura's comment on him being boneheaded. A braying cow began its flight towards the moon, propelled towards the celestial body by an unseen force of great power.
"...I will speak with your dragon." He stated as he began to move, moving past Kaori to the door. "You have my hospitality, but are not allowed within my private quarters. Help yourself to the larder and the drink. Kaori can show you where."
With that the large man stepped out of the house.

Echo fluttered his wings for a moment before flaring them and once again flying around noxuara. There was something about her the fae found entrancing to say the least. Ever the daring little fae he quickly circled her head before plopping down ontop of her head!

Kiro on the other hand was largely unfettered by the womans presence. Calmly he was seated off towards the corner of the room, his legs crossed in a comfortable position as he continued to meditate. A Smile sliding over his features as he listened to the words spoken in the room..or perhaps kaori's mounting irritation.

Noxaura ignored the dragons protest, uncaring if he was offended. He should have thought of that before he'd gotten her into this mess.

Kaori glared daggers at Valencar, wanting to rip his head off at his remark. She cared not for this damn human and would be damned if she did anything for her.

Noxaura broke the gravitational spell on Astarot as Valencar left to talk to him. Behave dragon. And try not to devour the human coming to seek your services, you would not enjoy the stomach ache he would likely give you. He is drenched in exceptionally powerful magic. Looking to Kaori she could feel that spike of power again, wondering what this strange kitsune was harbouring, having spotted the rune etched onto her arm for binding. But it was obviously failing given it was not as strong as it should be, quite possibly because the magic within was more powerful than the bind.

Ai reached out to stop Echo, wondering if he had a death wish trying to annoy this non-human.

Kaori growled and was quick to snatch the ice fae off the top of Noxaura's head with one of her tails. Placing him back on top of her head next to Ai.

Ai was quick to grab him by the arm. "Echo, leave her alone," she warned.

Noxaura walked past the kitsune and took a seat in one of the dining room chairs, formal in her seating position, but was in definite need to relieve her feet. She'd been on a mission since late evening to early this morning, broken from the King's hold whilst holding on for life whilst riding Astarot, more walking, more flying and fighting. She'd been moving and using magic non stop today, so sitting was a small rest at least.

Echo blinked and finally stopped trying to get to noxaura when Ai held onto his arm. He paused as he turned back to her, staring into her eyes with his own icy blues before finally relaxing and folding back his wings. "Something about her...shes no human. It vexes me." he whispered in those quiet tones before curling up next to Ai and hugging his knees close as his wings closed. His gaze instead lingered on Ai's before he looked down with a small smile. "...You always making that concerned face whenever I do something dangerous is half the motivation to do it." He admitted with a playful smile.

"You look like you have swallowed a hornet." Kiro observed as he watched Kaori from the corner of a golden eye. His tails had moved aound in an amused fashion. "You grow impatient as the power within you stirs. That rune wont last long...so, why dont you have someone weaken the darkness within you?" he inquired before motioning in the other room. "I know her smell. She may be able to help you with that endeavor." He volunteered as he sipped at some tea thoughtfully.

Suddenly a hearty bowl of bison stew placed itself before Noxaura as Chunaku stepped back from the table just as quickly. "h...hello." he greeted her in his hesitant tones. His gentle brown eyes glancing out the door to take note of Kaori's reassuring figure.
A moment passed before chunaku plucked up all his courage and stepped forewards, taking a seat by the stranger. "Do...do you have any wounds that need tending to?" he ventured, then blinked and raised a hand. "I...Dont mean to pry. But I hate to see people in pain or need...and as valencar has welcomed you, I will do what I can to ensure you are comfortable.

Astarot huffed and ignored Noxaura's mental link. Letting out a growl he shifted about, looking like a great black cat with how he lay irritably crouched. It was then that The large figure of valencar came into view, lumbering over to the beast and coming to a stop before him.
The two huge figures sized each other up, both a larger specimen than many of thier own kind. A moment passed, then it was valencar who spoke. "You are the second ancient I have ever seen in my many long years of life." Astarot grinned at his words, revealing his huge fangs as he lowered himself to his eye level. "She was a mad beast. I would hardly call her an anciant any more. She has long since lost the way of our kind." Letting out a puff of smoke he took in valencar's scent before uttering an amused growl. "You sought me out, black smith...I will assume for some payment my sorceress cannot provide." He chuckled, making sure every word he spoke transferred over to Noxuara's mind. "But why I wonder? She is shapely...does the sway of her hips when she walks offend you? She has lived a hard life, harder than yours...and much of it has been spent listening to the jealose and the hateful....I promise you there is far more to see that is hidden behind the last breath of cloth...and you appear like one who might actually be built to allow my queen to not hold herself back."
Valencar stared up at him, looking into the dragons amused gaze with his own stoic glare. "I do not seek her...nor her abilities, unless she can do what you cannot." Turning his gaze to the dragons side he continued. "One I care for...She has been tainted, her hearts fire taken and a darkness rooted in its place." Stepping closer to the dragon he spoke again. "I have heard of the magic abilities of dragons...heard more of the powers of the anciants. If you can help her, I will give the best I can to see it done." The dragon paused at his words, his grin vanishing as he stared into the eyes of the smith. "...What you ask for is no simple flame...this darkness you speak of...you will need to tell me everything that has happened...only then will I know if I can help you."

Ai gave Echo a disapproving stare as she bumped shoulders with him. "One day, your curiosity is going to get you killed if you are not careful," she murmured.

Kaori pinned the Kyuubi with a fiery stare that could kill if possible. "What are you talking about Kyuubi. Do you think I am not well aware of the time limit I have? But I am not about to take the help of a-a Mage from the human kingdom," she hissed, tails flicking about with impatience and anger. "I am perfectly capable of fighting my own battles, and if everyone would stop wasting my time, I would be well on my way to solving this mess."

Noxaura blinked down at the stew, momentarily distracting her from the badly shielded conversation in the other room, looking to the shy and quiet little mouse mage. She could smell very little else other than his fear radiating from his little body, it was a sour stench but one she was used to. Strange little mouse. "No I am perfectly healthy. I do not need anything aside from the blacksmiths verdict on my offer, and the seat is fine whilst I wait," she informed the beast-kin. "I will not be staying long, maybe it would be best if you were to see to your ... companions."

Suddenly she was attuned to the conversation between the blacksmith and her dragon. She ignored the vulgar comments, more interested in what the blacksmith had to say to the dragon. So her suspicions were correct, a form of dark magic, possibly a curse was trapped within the kitsune, it certainly explained the sudden emotional shifts, the spikes in energy and lack of natural magic within the beast.

Closing her eyes, Noxaura opened her third eye, seeing into the kitsune. A blackened soul resided in the wrong host, the dark energy festering and taking hold of its new host. It had almost completely taken root if it were not for the rune and...looking through her dragons eyes she could see why as she stared at Valencar. The tiny grain of blue fire left in Kaori also resided in Valencar, well the reminants anyway, from a spell by the looks of it. This kitsune was lucky there was even this much left of her fire, of her soul.

She suspected what the request the blacksmith making was, but if she was correct it was a very difficult and large task, that would take a lot of magic and not only that but would require the kitsunes power and soul to be replaced with something very similar or identical to the one she had or the hosts body would reject the spiritual energy and start dying anyway,

Noxaura continued to listen to the conversation between the blacksmith and the dragon as she opened her eyes.

Kiro's own tails began to sway in a far more amused manner, despite the growl carried in her words. "Oh? So if a human mage holds the key to your cure you would rather travel halfway across the continent to possibly find something to buy you more time?" he inquired, then lifted up a cup of tea and began to sip at it. "...Well, know at least that if you fall to the darkness within I shall make sure you are taken to my father to have it removed. But as you do not trust me we will have to wait till you have no choice to proceed." he shrugged, clearly certain of himself and his family.

Chunaku blinked and glanced back at kaori and kiro, the male kyuubi's body language almost the polar opposite of kaori's. It was like watching a male fox entering a females turf when they were not welcome to do so...which usually ended poorly. Wincing he shook his head and glanced back to thier guest. "No..I dont think I can help...well, at least not yet." Fidgeting a bit now, chunaku realised he was more or less trapped in the room, as stepping outside it meant getting between the bickering foxes. Letting out a sigh he pulled out a chair and sat down. Seeing the blank look on noxaura's face made him tilt his head curiously. "ummm..." he began hesitantly. "are....are you sure your okay?"

Astarot was quiet when the smith finished his tale. Staring down at the man he tried to look as if he was pondering, when in truth he already knew the answer. "...That which you seek is no easy task." The dragon repeated before turning his gaze away and towards the house. "Her flame dwindles still. what she does not know is that after this it will never be the same. The night king has done far more than simply tamper with her...no, this is no ordinary dark flame...and the soul around it is just a seal. Removing that will be like pressing down on the spring of a trap. It is the shadow behind this misplaced soul that must be cleansed and made one with her own...A flame of black with a heart of blue." Turning his gaze to Valencar he paused for another moment before speaking. "The cleansing can be done...but it will be a blood price. there is no way to cleanse, and it must be paid by one that cares for her truly and honestly as well as willingly. Do you know of one who is willing?"
Valencar was quiet for a moment, mulling over the dragons words. "Aye...I know of one. How soon can it be done?"
The dragon revealed its fangs in a colossal grin before looking to the house. "As soon as they and she are ready." Valencar nodded at his words then turned about and made his way back towards the house, his steps slow as he was deep in thought, concidering the actions that were to come and weighing them. Finally reaching the door he opened it and lumbered into the doorway. "Chunaku, Kaori. Outside now."

Kaori's eyes flashed red with a nasty little growl. "Like you, I do not trust her as far as I can spit. Can you honestly tell me you would allow a perfect stranger mess with something as precious and delicate as your soul, your magic?" She bared her teeth at the Kyuubi about ready to launch herself at him and choke the smile right off his face, when she heard Valencar calling out to her. Restraining her desire to claw the Kyuubi's eyes out she took a deep breath before finally turning to the front door. Walking out she made her way over to Valencar. "What is going on?" She asked, eyeing the dragon behind Valencar in case it tried anything.

Noxaura looked to the mouse-kin, wondering what his fascination was with her health. "I promise I am perfectly healthy and injury free," she told him again. Looking to the door she said, "it seems you are needed. Let us see what your blacksmith has to say." She stood up, leaving the stew behind as she entered the living room, following out after Kaori to look to Valencar. "So blacksmith what is your verdict, do we have an agreement?" If he did then what he was asking for in return was worth more than a few measly weapons, he'd be indebted. Another pawn and tool to add to her list.

    Well done dragon.

Valencar looked to kaori when she spoke, his gaze stoic as always. Yet when Noxaura exited the building he turned to look to her and nodded. "Aye...we do." Turning back to Kaori the Giant of a man stared down at her before stepping forewards and wrapping his large warm arms around her figure, embracing her and pulling her to him as he held her close. "...I...Am sorry." He whispered to her, his voice filled with hesitant tenderness. "Since The moment I met you I was selfish...seeing you hanging in one of my traps. The fires within your eyes an exact replica of the flames I had seen in the eyes of my lover and wife...I could not simply let you go, so I searched for an excuse to keep you. It was true I had plans to integrate our villages one day, but I had wished it slower...but then you..." He tightened his grip around her, pressing her tightly up against his broad chest. "But...you are not my love. No matter how much I wished you to be, no matter the similarities...and it was through my desires to make you into her that you ended up cursed...with her dark soul in a vessel not made for her." Valencar was quiet for a moment after, holding kaori close as he took a moment to find his voice once again. "But...I will right these wrongs, and I thank you for making me see clearly again."

Suddenly the sweet sting of metal slicing skin filled kaori's senses, The dark blade the large man had hidden in his palm creating a shallow cut on the rune on her arm, drawing out the smokey black corruption and the remains of her magic into the large knife held now in his other hand! A visable cut on his thumb absorbed the tainted energy that flowed from her through the blade and into him. Slowy his skin began to darken, but his grip on her never lost its strength, keeping her firmly from moving in any way. "I will tell your mother myself the leader you have become." He promised her with a whisper of his deep voice, then he leaned down and gently pressed his lips to her own, filling her senses one final time with his smoky scent and warmth. He then tilted his head down, pressing his forehead to kaori's own. "To the soul within... I am Valencar, The black bear of the north and your life mate. I have spent too long without you, and have kept you waiting. I will go with you now, to finally be a father to our children in the land beyond."
The corruption and soul stolen from kaori's form into his own, Valencar twisted the blade around on himself, then plunged the silver edged knife deep into his side, not flinching even as he continued to embrace kaori. "I hope you will remember well of me, Kaori."

Astarot's mouth then slipped open, revealing the grim glow of his black flames. With no warning the dragon exhaled, the ebony flare cloaking the embraced pair in his magic flames. The burn was intense, as Kaori was not Noxaura. But Valencar's form served as a conduit through thier embrace. His simple desire to help kaori the only way he could creating the needed matierial for this forbidden spell. The flame she had placed in valencar returned to Kaori, providing the flame that had been taken from her by the midnight king.
Dragon fire continued to feed and surround her, filling and empowering the candle sized blue flame in her spiritual core. Gradually the light blue flame grew and darkened to a deep pure sapphire, wrapped on all sides by flames the color of a midnight sky. When the dragons mouth finally closed Kaori was left in a state much like noxaura after he kissed her with his flames. Flowing blue celtic runes of long forgotten magic glowed briefly on her exposed flesh before vanishing. She was whole again, her power not only returned but amplified. The cost for this second chance was all too evident, as Valencar's form no longer held her in his heavy embrace. Not even ash remained where the large man had stood a mere breath before, and in his place a faint weight pressed against her hips as her ninth tail twitched slightly to match her emotions.

Astarot turned and looked to Noxaura. "It was his choice to do this. He stated she never would have agreed and the journey too much to ask of her. The gear in his smithy is ours, but all the posessions in his room are hers now...there was more that was said, but I shall share that later."

Kaori glanced back at Noxaura then at Valencar, ready to scold him for so readily taking the deal. "Valencar-" caught off guard by the sudden bear hug, struggling to push him off with her arms trapped by her sides. She suddenly stilled never having heard Valencar speak with such emotion before. "What are you talking about, what f-?" As he continued on she could not look at him, sighing softly. She had known all along on some level, had even tried to tell him once that she was not his wife, yet he did not seem to hear her words. "What has that got to do with-!" She groaned as he practically crushed her to him, and that was when she twigged he was up to something. "Valencar, let go of me," she growled, struggling to shove him away. This was not like him at all. Something was very wrong. "Stop it!" Imbued with the magic that allowed her to controlled Valencar, she said, "Valencar I demand you-!"

She hissed at the burn in her arm, eyes wide as she looked down at the cut he'd made over her rune. Looking up at Valencar she snapped, "What have you done!?"

Ai felt the sudden surge of darkness and grabbed Echo by the arm, immediately flying off and over to Chunaku. "What is he thinking?" She asked Echo, wanting to go to Kaori's aid.

The kitsune thrashed as she threw her head back in a scream, feeling the darkness scraping at her insides as it was drawn from her to Valencar. But this soul, this darkness was greedy and hungry, and was so very eager for more blood, more power. As the pain began to subside Kaori took deep breaths, looking up at Valencar, vigorously shaking her head. "No, no, no stop, do not do this, do not say such things you muscle headed imbecile. Let go of me Valencar, just let go! There is another w-!" Her throat grew tight as he kissed her, growing weak as she still struggled in his embrace. Her eyes burned and her sight blurred as he spoke not to her but the darkness within. "Valencar stop... please..." she gasped as he stabbed himself with the very blade he had told her could kill him. Wrapping her fingers around the hilt, slick with blood she tried to pry it from his side before the damage could be done, but he wouldn't let go.

"VALENCAR!" She cried, instinctively wrapping her tails around them both in an attempt to protect them from the dragons breath.

"KAORI!" Ai screamed, darting forward, except the heat and the power blew her back, sending her backflipping until she managed to catch herself mid air.

The heat was intense, gritting her teeth at the onslaught of fire and power. Suddenly her physical pain evaporated and was filled with renewed vigour and energy, feeling like she could breath for the first time in a very long while. Except her emotional pain only got more intense as she watched Valencar disintergrate before her very eyes, no matter how much she willed him to let her go, to let her help him, save him.

She fell to her knees in defeat, fat tears hitting her now bare legs as she stared blankly at the space Valencar had been, trying to find a trace, a grain, something. Clutching at the ninth tail that rested across her lap, covering her intimate area, she breathed, "why..." That imbecile! So why did it hurt so much? Rubbing at her chest to ease the ache in her heart she let out a rip roaring bellow of a cry, claws digging into the earth. Another one lost she failed to save.

Ai was quick to dart over. "Oh Kaori..." she whispered, understanding her pain and upset. "I am so sorry..." she reached out, brushing back her drooping ears. She didn't know what to say to her, or how to help. "How about we go inside, get you something to drink... and something to cover you up with," she said, pulling on her fingers to try and get her to stand up.

    -------
Noxaura did not look upon this emotional moment, too focused on getting the weapons needed. Uncaringly she turned on her heel and walked over to the separate cabin that no doubt housed the blacksmiths weapons and tools. Opening the door she stepped inside, her sense of smell assaulted by remnants of smoke and soot. There was a brilliant array of weapons on the walls, on tables, in buckets. It was just a matter of choosing. Grabbing a satchel from a hook she began plucking different weapons that suited different needs and styles of fighting, testing them all before either placing them in the satchel or strapping them to her person. One could never have too many weapons.

Once done picking and choosing she came back out, ready to move onto gathering supplies as she walked over to the dragon. "You had best not burn these ones or you will not be eating for a week."

Kaori finally stood up, tails wrapped around herself to cover up her modesty, knowing there was no hope of Valencar coming back. As she walked back to the cabin, she gave a passing deadpan glance to the Kyuubi and said, "leave. There is nothing more for you here. They are both.. gone. Hopefully to a better place together with their kits after all this time." It was the only consolation she could give herself, knowing that Valencar could finally rest in peace, be with his wife and kids like he wanted. She'd prepare a traditional beast-kin mourning ceremony later, but right now she couldn't think, just watching him burn over and over again and wondering why he would sacrifice himself like that. For her of all beast-kin, why? She'd been nothing but vicious, mean and scary to the giant muscle headed imbecile.

"Chunaku, could you get her a blanket and something to drink," Ai asked, gently leading Kaori to take a seat at the dining room table.

Noxaura hitched the satchel higher onto her shoulder. "Well at least you have accomplished something useful. I am going to go into the centre of the village and see what supplies I can gather," she told Astarot as she began walking away. "Try not to stir up more trouble or it will not be just your snout I crush into the ground. If you want to come with, you are going to have to shift into something smaller."

Chunaku blinked and turned his gaze over to ai. He looked more than a little dazed at the moment, as if he was still trying to process everything that had happened. He gave a small nod before he stood up and moved over to his bedroom, going to get the blanket to help Kaori and from the looks of it...himself.

Echo was quiet, keeping close to Ai after all that had happened. For everyone here Valencar had always been a immovable pillar, a symbol of life and longevity. But like all things his time had reached its end...and it was the end that had Echo unnerved the most. As sad as he was he knew what was coming.
Valencar may not have been a perfect man, but he was someone who had left thier mark on the world. more so than most ever hoped to. Something would come to ensure valencar did not linger, and echo did not want to be here when it did. Buzzing his wings he gently patted Ai's wings gently before turning and flying into the kitchen to get a sweet for himself and Ai, very much needing it.

Kiro seemed to not pay much attention to her as she spoke to him. What could he say? His own tails flicked irritably but he stood up then moved and made his way to the kitchen, moving out of sight to grieve for the soul of his aunt. His eyes flicked over to echo as he flittered in to get sweets.

Chunaku soon returned from his bedroom, carrying with him a thick blanket and a small stuffed doll that looked like an irritated ram. He was quick to go over to her side and drape the blanket over her and place the childhood toy in her lap.
For once the mousekin even let out his ears, letting the fuzzy dormouse ears perk slightly as he moved to curl up next to her, cuddling close to her. His fuzzy ears tickled under her chin slightly as he snuggled her. "....Im...Im sorry..." he breathed out, his tones shaking slightly.

Unlike the others Astarot was in a pleased mood. Turning to look at Noxaura's newfound toys he scoffed. "What use is armor or weapons that cannot withstand my breath? Use them if you must..but we will not linger here. Take one or all of those present as your price...We will be moving south, far south."

Kaori could do nothing more than stare into space as she tried to get her mind to focus and her the vice on her heart to stop squeezing. Barely registering the movement she barely managed to rasp out a thank you to Chunaku as he dropped the blanket over her shoulders. The stabbing thought of knowing she wasn't the only one hurting finally broke through her fog of sorrow and pain. She briefly stood up to wrap herself up in the blanket before sitting back down crossed legged. Picking up the toy in her lap, she felt Chunaku's weight fall against her, the salt of his sorrow filing her senses. And just like that she forced her own sorrow and pain aside in her instinct to help and protect those around her. It was her duty to do what was best for others, as future clan leader.

Chunaku, Hail and Echo had known Valencar a lot longer than she, to which they needed more support than she right now. Tails free she instinctively pulled Chunaku into her lap, wrapping him in a soft embrace as she rested her chin atop his head. He was trying to be brave and not cry, but it wasn't in his nature. "Shhhh..." stroking his ears in an attempt to sooth the mouse-kin. "...It is I who should be sorry, Chunaku, not you. You have done nothing wrong, never," she reassured him, pressing the ram into his hands. "It was his-...his choice, I am just sorry I could not save him." From himself and his muscle headed ways. Gritting her teeth to hold back the tears she cleared her throat, leaning down to nuzzle Chunaku. "It is ok Chunaku, do not hold back. Mourn as much as you need, cry, shout, whatever you need."

Ai landed on the table, looking between Echo, Chunaku and Kaori, unsure who to go to, what to do first. Kneeling, her wings drooped, hugging herself, waiting for Echo. Though it hadn't escaped her notice that Kiro had slipped into the kitchen and not left. Something did not feel right about having that kyuubi's presence in the home Valencar had made.

Kaori looked to Ai, then around the room, realising she couldn't see Hail. He needed to be informed first before the rest of the village. "Hail?" She called out, knowing he had been somewhere upstairs when everything had come tumbling down. She wondered if had left to go to Ruby or was still around.

Either way she had to tell the villagers and start planning the ceremony. They had no body but they at least had his hammer. A symbol for the man himself. They were going to need candles, ribbons, offerings, rocks, food.

Ai realised Echo was taking too long and flew off looking for him, spotting him looking for the perfect sweet food. Fluttering over she gently took his hand and lead him away and out of the kitchen to sit on the table. This time it was her turn, pulling Echo back against her, being mindful of his wings as she rested her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arms around his middle. "It is ok you know..."

Noxaura looked up at Astarot and shook her head. "Well, unfortunately I do not have the time nor the exceptionally rare materials it would take to make such weapons in the first place. Nor do I need such an item against such weak prey I have my eyes on. And my magic is not infinite, nor is it good to solely rely upon such power, it was one of the first lessons taught. Magic is not the be all and end all. Besides luck favours the prepared and I planned to be very prepared. So do not burn these ones or I shall be making new dragon hide clothes, understand." Looking up she noticed the sun was close to setting, and her physical needs for rest and food were gnawing at her. She could go for another day before she collapsed at best.

"I shall collect supplies if you are determined to take me South." With that she made her way to the centre of the village. It was quick work getting what she needed supply wise. After a small while she finally returned to Astarot, hopping up onto his back, satchel full. "Lead on then Guardian. There had best not be another rotten horde at the end of this ride," she warned him.
