A few months ago, the Science community had come across a major even that would quickly evolve into a wave of discovery. A report had been made about a meteor having hit the earths surface with some odd claims that also got news reporters on the scene, though before it got too public, government officials intervened to have this meteor moved and looked at more thoroughly. Which ended up not being a meteor at all, not even by its looks.

This object was room brought into a secret facility to be kept safe while a small team of highly skilled researchers would be selected to study this thing. An egg shaped object dubbed AD-0001.

For the most part, it remained still and seemed safe enough to approach for closer inspections. Samples taken from it for testing. And round the clock security to ensure nothing it tempered with while it had remained stored there. That was of course until something new happened to it, as more samples were taken from its outer layer, the object started to crack violently in places it had pieces taken from, before it would completely fall apart and the pieces scattering along the ground where it once was. And in its place was something new entirely that had been sleeping inside it the whole time. The object really did turn out to have been an egg of some kind. Or a cocoon.

This new thing, a proper life form, was classed as AD-0001-A. And from that day onward, the facility was in full swing to study this being in full. Leaving it in a observation room for the small team to learn everything there is.

    -Current time-

Leading up to this moment, the Alien AD-0001-A had found herself in a room since waking up with virtually to exit and everything just being new to her. She hadn't panicked much, but was incredibly confused by her surroundings. More so than that, she was mat with two creatures that had kept her company over the months of her stay. One of them more so than the other.

Over time, while she was put through test after test, the Alien and this one creature had grown to fully trust each other. Made easier once the Alien had started to understand what was being said to her. Somewhat. She couldn't speak herself, but showed to be expressive enough to communicate at least. She'd been fed by them, so she felt they meant no harm, quickly making it clear that her native food is fruit based. Though there was one small incident when the Alien was given some milk to go with trying to figure out what she drinks, if she even needed to, and dairy products as it turns out only served to make the Alien hurl it back out shortly after consumption. It was quickly recommended never to let her have milk.

Also, along with getting to becoming good friends with this human, Selene, the Alien had her room more and more decorated by them so as to make the observation room feel more liveable. Like a very fancy bedroom. She had her own bed, even if she didn't really sleep. A nice couch. A TV, with games of both video games and board games. A small table. A shelf with various books and just other little things here and there. And by here and there, her belongings were... here and there.

Most recently the Alien was put through some very curious activity with only Selene present. One such item was right by her feet of a green snake looking costume she once wore yesterday. An odd thing for her, but she didn't mind it much. Clothing was never much of a thing for the Alien as she is normally nude anyways. Not showing any signs of there being privates on display, her figure was most definitely female. So, ignoring the scattered clothing as she walked over them, the Alien pondered what she could be doing right now.

As of now, she had been left alone in here with the two Scientists gone. She tried working the TV, but... having never fully payed any attention on how Selene did it, the Alien was defeated into leaving the TV off and returned to wondering the room for anything to do. Finding nothing of interest, she retreated over to her bed and wait for one of them to come back. It was quite lonely in here and it would only get fun when Selene was here with her. That Human is just so interesting to her. She's the only one willing to play. And, as a bonus for being so adorable to the Human, she was given a name that only she and the Human know. She got called Ada.

Selene had once had a more free schedule, weekends with friends, nights off, but when she had been moved on site for the egg AD-0001, all that changed, she could still text them in the evenings, but gradually their work and lives further distanced her from her friends, and the other researchers were very by-the-book, only spoke when they had to in order to share observations and theories; and then the egg cracked.

Despite her best efforts to be professional in her work, Selene enjoyed AD-0001-A's company more than a scientist should enjoy the company of her subject. A bipedal life form, humanoid and feminine, the serial "AD-0001-A" seemed excessively cold and distant, not to mention cumbersome--as of yet, there were no other similar lifeforms documented, unless the government had more elsewhere that she didn't know about. She knew the others wouldn't understand, but she took to referring to the creature without the numbers and pronounced the remaining letters as a name.

She thought of Ada as a friend, they were both largely alone here, in the name of science. That time of year came around where she half expected calls from someone wishing her a happy birthday, but the same as last year, no calls came for her. She was well and truly apart from her past connections, all that was left were memories of the times when she used to go out to dinner and eat cake with them. Just like last year, she went into the lab's cafeteria, and without really thinking about it, she brought a slice of carrot cake and a hot tea.

The scientist found herself wandering towards the Observatory where she could be alone with her thoughts and just generally mope around without worrying anyone or getting interrupted. She made her way to the sofa, lay the plate on her lap and the cup on the coffee table, started in on the cake, and let out a tired sigh; she'd never guess that one day she'd be alone on her birthday.

The concept of celebrating birthdays, or even a holiday of any kind, wasn't much of a priority for the staff members in the facility. Protocols and other such work related guidelines were quite strict on those things. So anything to do with such traditions were kept to a minimum, if not, were non-existent. Even another Scientist working as an assistant wasn't much of a party girl, nor gave Selene any more than a single 'Happy birthday'. Though not this year. Her work load today was through the roof and needed taking care.

As for the Alien herself? Ada had to battle the solitude of being cooped up in here since her arrival. The only salvation being Selene.

Ada had taken to the bed in hopes of raking in some rest while she'd wait for possibly hours. Sleep just wasn't a thing for the Alien, but at least her favourite Human was kind enough to have had someone put one in here. Along with all the rest of the furniture and other accessories that she can remember were mat with constant disapproval by the Assistant alone. But not even Tasha could sway the Lead-Scientist that is Selene. Still, they at least had each other to keep company whenever they had the chance to. Just between them.

Taking in a sigh, Ada was getting close to letting her mind drift on wonder of what she might be tasked to do next for 'research'. When at that moment she heard the airlock to the observation room open up. Almost startling her fully, but managing to keep quiet enough when she saw who had walked in here. Selene! Yay. She turned up a little early though?

Sitting up to look towards the seemingly unsuspecting Scientist settle down, Ada also caught a smell of something new. Two new things to be exact. And if she could make any guesses as to what it was, she would, so... she intended to investigate. As it should be known of the Alien by now. Knowing little to nothing of the Humans, Ada had proven to be very curious by almost everything they did with her, touching and even climbing all over ether Scientists that would be testing her. Tasha especially didn't like that when Ada did that. So, climbing off the bed to move from the corner of the room over to the couch, Ada kept low and on all fours as she approached. The impressive length of her tail doing the only bit of noise as it was being dragged along the smooth floor.

She reached the side of the couch, opposite to where Selene was sat. She gave the Humans a look of wonder, she looked much less enthusiastic than usual, but she was carrying two things that caught her eye. One, on her lap, was a very, very odd looking thing on a plate. Tilting her head a little, the was no chance she could tell what it was. Food? Maybe. But it was held close to Selene and she's looking right at it. Maybe it's hers. Then her eyes shifted to the cup on the table. Set aside unlike the plate. This things was causing the majority of the smell, an alright one, but still new. It also emitted a little bit of steam. Why was it doing that?

Curiosity once again winning over the Alien, Ada slowly approached the cup to see what was inside it and saw it was some form of liquid. Wasn't that what the humans called 'drink'? And why did that one steam? Is it good? Well, not spending even a second to ask Selene of wonder any more about it, Ada's tongue slivered out of her mouth a good few inched in order to inspect it. Tipping the tip of her tongue into the tea. The instant it made contact, Ada immediately retreated her tongue and let out a hiss as she flinched back from it. It was so hot! Why was it hot?! Why?! Holding her hands against her mouth, Ada then stood up that would let her presence be known if it hadn't done that already and took a step towards Selene. A whimper coming from the Alien as she pointed at the cup to express what happened.

Selene snapped back to reality, nearly jumped out of her seat when she heard the alien's hiss, and immediately set her plate down next to her, "Ooh, Ada...I' sorry, I shouldn't have just left it there." She muttered regretfully. If she hadn't been so caught up in her personal issues and forgotten that Ada was still in the Observatory, this wouldn't have happened. As the lead researcher and Ada's caretaker, she shouldn't have been so neglectful.

"Here, take a seat." She patted the space beside her in invitation, watched Ada's mouth intently in case she let her tongue back out again. The poor alien had never tasted anything hot enough to produce steam, and while she was sure that Ada would be no worse off than a human, she was of a different species and was lactose intolerant, and--while she had sharp teeth--subsisted off fruit, so there was no telling what effect the hot tea would have on her.

Ada was more than happy to do as she was told by Selene and took the offered seat. The tongue inside her mouth feeling a tad sore from the mild burn she got from the tea, she hesitated a little before moving her hand away from her mouth. Slowly letting just 2 inches of her tongue poke out to be inspected. It wasn't anything major thankfully, it just left the Alien with a slightly redder tongue at the tip. The drink being tea itself must've had little effect so long as milk wasn't included in it.

Selene was just such a nice human. Always so willing to see to it that Ada was being treated well and doing everything in her power to check on her as often as she could, much like now, how every time she got hurt or was sick from the milk. Selene was always there for her. And with it, Ada trusted her completely. Allowing the Human to inspect the tongue whiles the Alien would take the time to calm down. Soon her she would settle down and return to her more usual look of a calm, yet curious expression. And while she was letting Selene do her thing, Ada extended the tongue out a little more so she could turn her head towards the table without ruining Selene's check-up. Spotting the cake for a second then turning her head back to face Selene. Silently having to ask what sort of food that was.

Selene was happy to see that--aside from the reddened flesh--the surface and underside of the alien's tongue could withstand the heat it had been immersed in, though like a human's, she was sure it was mildly uncomfortable, but at least she wasn't in pain anymore. Now she was at ease and curious as ever, and given the angle of her pupils, her fascination seemed to be on the cake. When she shifted her inquisitive gaze to the scientist, Selene smiled, picked up the plate, and cut some of the cake--careful to exclude the cream, in case it irritated her, "Do you want to try some cake, Ada? The cake part should be fine, but I'm not sure about the cream."

She ate some of the cake to show Ada that it was edible, and offered the rest in her palm. While offering the treat to Ada, she set the plate down on the coffee table and grabbed the cup of tea. It was a bit on the bitter side to counter the sweetness of the cake, a quality of the drink she wasn't sure if Ada had appreciated--if she had noticed anything but the alarming heat when she stuck her tongue over in it. The scientist blew onto the tea and took a careful sip, then set it back down again, her eyes always on the adorable alien. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but somehow being around Ada always brought a smile to her lips, she was very gentle, and had at first been surprised by how sweet tempered she was, considering the sharp teeth.

'Cake'? Hearing her favourite Human talk about the food- and calling by its name, left the Alien even more curious than ever to find out what it was. It just... it looked nothing like any of the other foods she's had here. Watching, Selene even separated a chunk of it from the part that was called 'cream'. Was that bit something she shouldn't have? She'd just have to accept Selenes word for it and trust that it was a no-no. But not the sponge part of the cake itself that had been offered to Ada.

Holding out her hands to let Selene plop some of that cake onto her palms, Ada was in awe with it whiles she was examining it just looking. Even tilting it and trying to get different angles of it. Amusing to think how an Alien like her would find something like a cake so... alien! Still though, with the demonstration given to her that it was indeed eatable food. She first stuck out her tongue to give it a taste, ignoring the uncomfortable feeling from the burn, then frowned. It oddly didn't taste like much. She probably didn't give it a good enough taste. Trying again, she licked it with a little more force, enough so that some of the cake stuck to her tongue and she'd bring it back into her mouth for a proper taste.

The results were soon shown as her face twisted into one that expressed dislike. Making a none too happy noise of a hum before reaching over to the table to set the remaining bit of cake down on the plate. It felt much too dry for her liking. Now she's got that going for her too.

It might not be to her understanding what this cake was for or why Selene even brought it with her, but Ada still liked the idea that she finally had company again. So, pushing the thoughts of the dangerous tea and the mild distaste of the cake to the back of her mind. The pale skinned Alien was once again focusing her sights on Selene. Her red eyes blinking as she scooted closer to the Scientist, even shifting her long tail around the couch. She tilted her head a little as she'd be thinking about what to ask and how to go about it, then simply settled for a lick on the cheek. It had become a means for Ada to say 'Hi'. But for some reason she felt there was still something off with Selene. And rather bugging her about wanting to do something fun, Ada then took action in her second set of communication by gently nuzzling her head against the Scientists neck. One might say it means 'I'm here with you' or even a form of question as 'Are you ok?'

Selene sighed softly when Ada decided she didn't like the cake, she had been looking forward to sharing her cake with Ada, but if Ada couldn't enjoy it, too, what was the point of using it to celebrate? As she mulled over this, Ada scooted closer and slid her tail between couch and human, she giggled softly at the lick Ada gave her--and noted that Ada didn't make any sound that could be interpreted as discomfort, reach was further confirmation that her tongue was okay--and wrapped an arm around the alien when she initiated a snuggle with her.

"Thank you, Ada." She murmured, one hand on Ada's shoulder, while the other rested on her head, but while she was grateful to her unexpected friend, the words were insufficient to express exactly what she felt, it was as if the words themselves were inherently incomplete. She was surprised at herself when a sob broke out of her mouth, she didn't know what suddenly got to her, but as she let herself feel through it, her thoughts came into focus: Selene was afraid that her work would one day split her apart from Ada, as it had her other friends, her family, and it took her a while to get used to the loneliness the first time around, she didn't want to feel that way again.

Still, she didn't find any answers about what she wanted to say, but words slipped out--words that'd be impossible for Ada to understand--but she held them back all the same, "I-I'm sorry, Ada," She sat upright again and wiped her eyes on her sleeves, smiled at Ada again, a broken smile, supported by cheeks bearing rivulets of tears on their surface, "it's been so long since I had someone I could talk to like this, but...I still miss them. Today was my birthday, and...I'm not alone, I know that, but I just...can't seem to let go of what was...I shouldn't wait for calls that won't come, I should be happy for what I have but...I don't know."

The moment of comfort that Ada was granted and able to give at the same time allowed for the Alien to smile too, feeling the Scientist shift to hug her back for that snuggle. Only those two could do it. And each time they would, Ada would relish the moments they shared in secret until it was time for testing again or just general study through observing. She was a simple being, clearly, one that likely didn't mean anything offensive by disliking the cake.

But Ada is still a living being regardless of a simple mind, one with feelings and some understanding when there's a shift in mood. And after what sounded like a sob coming from Selene, Ada was sure this time that something didn't appear right anymore. With the hug separated, she too leaned away from the Scientist with a smile no longer there, in it's place was now a look for concern. Her favourite Human is crying. Why? When the brief explanation came out, it confused her at first what some of them meant. She has a birthday? And it was today? She also listened to the part that Selene must be feeling lonely, just the word 'alone' made Ada's shoulder sag as a wave of sympathy washed over her. She had no idea. No idea Selene felt so alone too just as much as Ada does being the only one of her kind here.

There was a long pause between them but only because at the moment, Ada was trying to think of something. Is today meant to be special? Selene seemed to say it is. She tore her focus away from Selene to look about the room, hoping for anything to that she could use or do to cheer up the Scientist. It was tough, she couldn't really think of anything at all that might work. She just has no idea about what Humans do in these kinds of situation. it was even her first time seeing anyone cry.

Coming to a dead end of thoughts, Ada looked back with a clear look of pity for Selene. And remembering that the cuddle did at least bring a smile, maybe contact in a comforting manner was just the thing. So, as a new form to communicate for then they'll be alone, Ada this time did a little more than just scoot close still and sat herself on Selene's lap. One would be glad that Ada's body weight, excluding the tail, is very light. Now that she was as close as the two have ever been whiles being face to face, Ada reached up with one hand and wiped away at the remaining tears that were left behind. Her red eyes and a smile beaming with a sense of reassurance that one could easily imagine she'd be saying 'It's going to be ok. You're not alone'

But that still wasn't enough, she was sure of that. So unlike any other time, Ada stuck out her tongue that could be assumed was going for another lick on the cheek, but instead the tongue brushed across the Humans lips. After that it was unclear what response she might get for doing that, her only worry being that she hoped it came off as a means to say 'I like you'.

There were even red circular marks appearing on her cheeks that have never been there before after doing that. A blush.

Selene's fears seemed to come true, she felt that she should just leave, and come back later when she was feeling better, rather than burden the poor alien with troubles that she didn't need. All Ada's life had been fairly straightforward up until now, she liked to play and eat, she was very carefree, but this would shatter all that. She was sure Dr. Fritz would especially disapprove of her letting her emotions carry her away her, she would likely ask what she thought she would accomplish by going into the Observatory--Selene wouldn't be able to give her an answer.

She smiled and a soft, broken chuckle rose in her chest, she held the light alien in her arms, something about the way she was holding the alien girl--and despite no clear method of proper species propagation, Ada was doubtlessly a girl, a fact that Selene constantly found herself realizing as if for the first time--felt right in ways she couldn't readily digest. The way Ada caressed the scientist's face made her chest feel warm, but somehow tight--yet she told herself it was something about how her loneliness and the affection and memories she still longed for a return of clashed. She could stare back at Ada forever, her smile was sweet, her eyes were so beautiful--but surely Ada had no use for such feelings, even if she was capable of the complex thoughts that led to curiosity and understanding. It was on that one thought when her entire train of thought derailed, a light gasp rose from her lips, she pulled Ada just a bit closer. Her face grew warm as she parted her lips, swiped her tongue against Ada's, shivered lightly at the way Ada's tongue felt on her own. Selene held Ada snugly against her body and kissed her forehead tenderly

"Ada..." Selene murmured, as she brushed a hand up along the alien's cheek, into her hair. She was intrigued with the alien blush, so perfectly round, so beautiful--and she knew right away it meant exactly the same thing as her own red face did, "I love you, Ada...I love you so much." She whispered, as she lowered her lips to brush against Ada's lips, just once, very slow, very brief, in case her lips felt differently from a human's when touched in any manner and caused them displeasure.

Something was happening here. Ada clearly wasn't going to be able to explain it but she knew, things are about to chance between the two. She had no idea that her lick across the lips would have such an effect on her, plus with the way she was pulled closer into the gentle hug it was vastly different to the cuddling they used to do before. This. This was new.

Her red eyes never stopped staring back at those dark ones as their faces were made to be against one another, even receiving as kiss to the forehead that must have a special meaning behind it. It made her feel strange, she was sure Selene felt so too. They were different species. They are also both female. Yet, however way Ada thought about this, there was no other way than to know just how right this felt deep inside. It was like her chest was threatening to burst open her heart was going so fast. And then it came. With a few words from Selene and actual connection of lips even if light, it was more than enough for the Alien to let out a little gasp. The lips from a human were so gentle, or was it just because it was Selene doing it? Ada just went with because it's Selene. This act alone was about to spark something big for the both of them.

And there was no way she should let Selene feel alone anymore.

Determination build up in Ada's thoughts, understanding loud and clear what those words meant just then. At least she hoped she understood right. With some hesitation, Ada tried to be equally gentle just as Selene was, leaning forward for their lips to once more connect. She wanted to feel that again. Nice and slowly, this time with a little more pressure added in order to make this a proper kiss. Returning those feelings to a Human that just declared her love to an Alien. The kiss itself, while having been more than that light encounter, was also quite brief. Perhaps it was for the better as Ada wasn't too sure what else Humans do beyond that. Plus this just seemed more special that way.

Moving her arms around the Scientists neck, Ada ensured to keep as close as they were along with the tail around them moving in closer to signify the Aliens intent to stay this close together for now. The blush on Ada's face remained, easily, and she also couldn't help up smile. Looking into Selene's eyes feeling she just might've cheered up her special Human.

A soft purr rose from Selene's chest when Ada kissed her back, she greatly enjoyed the pressure Ada added to the kiss, it assured her that Ada did enjoy it, and the gentleness with which she was kissed back told her just how special she was to Ada. She gazed back lovingly at the sweet alien in her arms, her dark eyes could wander the alien's red ones without tiring, there was just something so perfect she found in them, "I love you so much, Ada. I don't know what this means for you, where you come from...if you remember what life was like there o-or if your egg was a for space travel, if your people grow in eggs until you're ready to come out."

Her smile, small but genuine, didn't fade as she lay a hand along the side of Ada's cheek, pulled her in to rest under her chin, comforted by the embrace the alien's tail provided. Selene let out a soft sigh as she wondered if this was normal where Ada came from, if her people would've thought her wrong for showing a special sort of affection to another female--within her species or otherwise, or if she had been created or modified by an intelligence that far surpassed humanity and there was no AD-0001-B or AD-0002-A. Selene did know, however, that when growing up, she hadn't been thought of highly as an individual, but as a student, a leading scientist, a member of a research team and it's competent leader, she was respected. Because of the life she led on paper, she was there when Ada landed, and the life behind the one she lived through paper resumed when Ada was entrusted to her care.

Today might've been her birthday, but she still had duties to attend to, other projects within the facility existed to occupy the research team until tests revealed something more about Ada. With another slow, light kiss on the cheek--followed by a gentle press of her lips into Ada's--Selene relaxed her arms around the alien and leaned away, as reluctant as she was to be so far from her beloved alien, "I need to get back to work, now, Ada. I'll be back a little later on with your meal."

She said it again. Her favourite human had spoken those words again that got Ada's heart beating those few ticks faster, those were of true feelings that even the Alien was able to understand first hand, she still had plenty to learn about Human words and their meaning. But for this one she knew it. She's feeling it. Love. Now she can also use her new form of a gesture as a means to tell Selene that she loves her too, that lick on the lips she did before, yes, that's what she'll use that for.

She couldn't get enough of this moment, how loving Selene was being with the Alien emotionally and physically, letting herself be pulled into the embrace with her eyes closed. The way her head was rested atop of Selene's chest she had her ear resting against the Human, a smile forming to the sounds of the heartbeat being heard. It was quite soothing. Almost enough that the rest of the words spoken to her were left unheard. She couldn't answer any of the questions asked about her own kind, if she could talk, she would be more than happy to share anything she could possibly tell to Selene outside of how she got here. That part she honestly didn't know. There was supposedly a suggestion to ask Ada 'yer or no' questions from some of the other staff, but that was deemed inefficient to really narrow anything down with. So for now these humans have to be left to figure things out on their own. Though for Ada, that was far from a concern of hers, all that mattered to her was Selene.

The moment that felt eternal to Ada was soon broken unfortunately when she was interrupted by Selene breaking off the cuddle, as well as taking about needing to get back to work. That, she too knew what that meant and the Alien was quick to show her dislike now that they had become a new level of close, pouting as she tugged at the white lab coat as if to say 'Stay!'. Though her tail did uncoil regardless, meaning she knew she wasn't going to get it her way. Ada only wanted the moment to last longer.

She still needed those reminders why they can't get too comfortable with each other. Especially from Tasha.

Nevertheless, Ada would be convinced easily enough to let Selene head off to her job and return to the classic routine of being subject and researcher. Getting off of the Scientists lap, Ada decided to resume her attempt at getting some rest in by reclaiming her spot on the bed. Even if only for a few hours, Ada would have to try very hard to endure it until her meal. Just as she headed for the bed though, she threw one last glance glance at Selene and stuck her tongue out with a smile, waving as she did so to say 'Bye for now'.

Selene sighed softly at the tug on her coat, she understood the feeling and wished that the alien could pass time with sleep, instead of waiting impatiently for researcher to pay her a visit--usually Selene, due to her position. She gently ran her fingers through Ada's hair when she got off her lap, picked up the piece of cake Ada had rejected and dropped it back onto the plate, and turned to gaze upon the alien she had just expressed her love to--she wondered briefly what Ada would call them if she could speak, girlfriends, maybe? She had blushed, so certainly it meant something--just not anything they could share with the outside world, as unfortunate as that was.

She waved back at Ada when the alien turned around, collected the cake and tea once Ada went back to her bed, and then reluctantly left the Observatory to resume her work. That was the only real reason she worked here, she had to consistently prove her brilliance and diligence, or someone else would take her place--and with only so few people they wanted in the laboratory, she might be kicked off the team entirely. Selene didn't really want the cake anymore, and it was time for work, so she discarded it and drink down her tepid tea, and resumed her duties for the day.

As usual, she had looked forward to the time when she could take a break from reading the reports of her team or filing her own to her superiors, but this time there was something else, a sense of anticipation. She could express her feelings fully to Ada now that it was a kind of freedom she never thought she'd enjoy, that her heart would pound so hard as she anticipated her visit. She was so excited, and had only just finished preparing Ada's meal of sliced pears, a peach, cherries, strawberries, and some cubes of melon--enough for her to share, as that was her new idea of a birthday meal.

After she had the bowl filled and started toward the Observatory's airlock, her excitement only grew. Selene took a deep breath as the airlock opened to let her in, and briefly glanced back at the sterile facility behind her to make sure no one was watching as the last of her professionalism melted away, as she sprinted towards the bed the alien had been waiting on.

"Hey, Ada~" She breathed out the words as she approached the bed, slid her shoes off so as to not track dirt onto the blankets when she sat on the bed and scooted back into it, legs folded and bowl between the two females.

During those hours where Selene had to go for her work, Ada had spend it thinking about stuff--primarily about Selene. It's not too uncommon that the Alien would occasionally be inactive, so it would've been understood that today wasn't one of those days the research team would get a whole lot of data. While she had been occupied with her own thoughts, she wondered what Selene thought of the Alien. Every time the two had spend time together, playing games and having fun, the other one would always scold them for it like they did something wrong. Mainly with Selene. So Ada was questioning it slightly what would be so wrong? Do Humans not like other species? Do they not like others of the same sex?

Selene seemed to really like her though, perhaps there are exceptions. Every time her thoughts lingered towards the Scientist, the same blush would return and the Alien would smile. Awaiting for the return with the upmost anticipation she had ever felt before.

    --

The waiting was soon at and end when Ada's moment of rest was interrupted once more by the sounds of the airlock opening up, followed by the all too familiar cheerfulness from the woman of her affection. Sitting up as soon as she heard the arrival of Selene, Ada smiled seeing that she had come back to being her usual happy self the Alien got used to, making room on the bed for Selene to sit down. The tail immediately shifted getting to work encircling them whiles the two of them got comfortable next to each other. Scooting closer herself, Ada was practically leaning against Selene now. And with the excitement that she felt now that they were spending time together again, the little Alien girl couldn't help with greeting the woman with a lick, extending her tongue out that licked the side of the neck for a (possibly) ticklish 'Hi!'.

Also taking note of the bowl of fruit that reminded her that it is feeding time, wasting little time to reach for a cube of melon to plop it into her mouth one after another, chewing it before swallowing. She also noticed that, for whatever reason, the food bowl was a little bigger than she remembers them to be. Meaning more food. But then an idea struck Ada as she starred at the food. Selene offered her a piece of that cake--even though it was horrid, so... maybe she could return the favour? She did feel a little bad for spitting something out during a moment while Selene was upset. Reaching into the bowl, Ada grabbed hold of a strawberry to be offered to the Scientist.

Though, thanks to her lack of ability to speak and the haste that Ada applied to her brilliant plan, the offered Strawberry was instead just lightly pressed against Selene's lips.

Selene couldn't remember smiling so much as she did when the alien leaned close to her and held her snugly with her tail, and held Ada back, her arm around her back, hand resting lightly on her shoulder. She chirped out a "Hey!" with the other female's playful lick, her shoulders slightly tense as she shook from the ticklish sensation, but still leaned closer so Ada didn't think she disliked the gesture--the last thing she wanted to do was discourage something that felt so sweet, so right. She watched as Ada started in on one melon after another and continued holding the bowl steady, the purpose of eating with Ada completely forgotten--until the girl of a different species held a strawberry against her lips.

A surprised hum rose from her lips as her eyes darted down to observe the offering, and leaned in to bite half of it of into her mouth, chewed and swallowed that and then carefully lowered her lips around what remained so her teeth--while slow and careful in closing--didn't scrape against Ada's fingers too much. She chewed up the juicy piece of fruit.

"Thank you, Ada." She murmured, before pressing her lips gently into the alien girl's cheek, followed by a brief lick--an affectionate gesture she was sure meant more to Ada than words, since it was something she was more familiar with the meaning of, "Hehe, I don't need a cake next year, so far this is the best birthday party I've ever had." She reached into the bowl and grabbed a sliced pear, brought it near to the alien's lips in offering as she watched her lovingly.

Ada herself let out a hum that could almost be described as a giggle with the hug she received. And she practically beamed with joy when her offered Strawberry didn't fall flat on its face, watching it be eaten by the Scientist felt like an achievement to the Alien. She wasn't one bit scared when the last of the strawberry was eaten. Ada knew well enough that Selene would never hurt her intentionally, plus the Humans don't appear to have any sharp teeth, so she had even less things to worry about.

Getting a kiss and a lick on the cheek once more made Ada blush, happier than she's ever been to be given a gesture that her kind do to express themselves, this one being in a form of affection. They both liked each other, this was all that mattered.

Still not quite getting what this birthday is all about, Ada was left with little to wonder about that when she was offered up the next piece of fruit from Selene. Knowing that she actually possesses teeth that could hurt Selene, Ada went about by using her tongue and hook it around the piece of fruit before bringing it back into her mouth to eat. Pears were nice too, very sweet. Without missing a beat, Ada once more reach into the bowl for another strawberry to offer Selene, so far looking like they were going to be feeding each other from now on. And you know what? Ada didn't mind that one bit, she wanted to cheer up her favourite Human and she believed she had managed just that on a day like today.

Upon hearing the precious sound Ada made during the hug, Selene felt her heart flutter in her chest, she loved how much closer they were, emotionally and with the want of physical closeness that came with the feelings they shared. The alien's blush told her that her emotions had gotten across in the gesture, she made a mental note to express her love like that again more often.

She was always so intrigued by the way Ada ate, and watched with interest as the dexterous muscle hooked itself around the fruit. From her general appearance, it was easy to forget that Ada's teeth were sharp, so she appreciated the care her beloved took in taking the food from her. Selene happily accepted the next strawberry in much the same as the first, first bit the top half, ate it, then caught the bottom half gingerly between her teeth. She leaned into Ada as she ate, and offered her a melon, "If you want we can just feed ourselves. You can climb into my lap, too, if you want," she patted her folded legs in invitation as spoke, "I love holding you, Ada."

This back and forth feeding ritual was becoming to be quite a lot of fun for the Alien girl as she got offered a melon piece, trusting that only Selene knew what Ada's favourite fruit is and taking it in the same way she had the pear. But with greater enthusiasm. She then wanted to fish out another fruit for Selene to have when said Human spoke up with the offer of that Ada could sit on her lap.

Not one to turn down such an offer from a Human she grew to really like--perhaps even falling for her, Ada accepted this offer in a spit second when she shifted herself out of the current embrace they were having in order to change position. Careful not to knock against the bowl of fruit, Ada made herself comfortable on Selene's lap that would ultimately allow the two of them to hug it out much better, as well as allowing her tail to coil around more closely. Eventually achieving a comfy situation for them both to just be in each others arms. She even took hold of the bowl after she was done moving so the two could finish up the meal together, there were still some left since most of them were wolfed down by the Alien before they started to share.

Holding the bowl up a little, Ada stared at Selene, not the least bit minding how close they are now face to face, silently awaiting for the Scientist to grab another bite. She understood well enough that even Humans need to eat.

Selene loved seeing Ada so enthusiastic about the offered fruit, she knew quite well just how much she loved melons, and seeing her so happy made Selene even happier. She was also glad that Ada eagerly accepted her offer to sit in her lap, so now they could hold each other while they shared their meal. Once Ada was comfortably situated in her lap--tail coiled in a hug of it's own--and the alien girl held the bowl for her, Selene let one hand rest on Ada's shoulder, while the other went into the proffered bowl and pulled one of the half dozen or so cherries and a slice of peach.

The closeness of their faces hadn't gone unnoticed by the scientist, rather, it brought a pleasant warmth to her cheeks. Holding Ada just like this was something she'd wanted to do for a little while now, to hug and cuddle her just like this. She didn't know why she felt so happy having the alien in her arms, but she was so happy and glad she could feel this way about someone, even if it did have to be a secret. She ate the fruit one at a time, she reached back into the bowl again, watched Ada adoringly as she withdrew another melon for her to eat, "You should eat, too, Ada, if I'm still hungry I can grab a salad." Ultimately, the fruit was Ada's, something she realized she'd forgotten, as she had too much fun celebrating with the pretty alien.
